Cleverley is a paperweight champion & has no right to share the ring with froch who I think should step up to l.heavy & face Hopkins & if successfull take on ward & make him step up a weight where despite being heavier then froch will lose speed & increase frochs chances. If ward was more effective at l.heavy he would of stepped up for Dawson.
If froch followed this path & was successfull being two weight & avenging a defeat v prob the best p4p fighter he'd smash jc's legacy.

i agree with this - dawson looking listless vs ward after dropping fown to 168.

if golovkin progresses, and gets some big wins at 160, he could move up and challenge froch in an appealing, all-offense matchup.

golovkin was linked to fighting a couple of super middle contenders including alleged puncher thomas oosthuizen.

golovkin has that great amateur pedigree, has won a pro title, has got the notice of HBO and has a nice matchup with macklin in a few weeks. let's say he beats another 160 champ, froch would surely be an option and this'd be a more appealing style matchup for froch, than ward, who is exceptional at spoiling. could be ahigh profile, famous win if built up right.

whatever cleverly does, he needs to be fighting better opponents.

look at recent fights of jamie mcdonnell (julio ceja), ricky burns (jose gonzalez, kevin mitchell, paulus moses, michael katsidis), carl froch (kessler, bute, ward, abraham)...

cleverly's resume looks tame by comparison. great fights with bellew and murat, but cleverly has not grown into the sharp shooting ring technician i was won over by when he battered danny mcintosh. cleverly has not come on the way i'd hoped and he looked so crude vs bellew.

Cleverly should target Bellew again if he wants a realistic domestic dust up.

Froch is above him and has bigger fish to fry in his own division.

Just another case of piggybacking Froch's achievements.

Spot on Yiddo. This is all just 'talk' and trying to get some free publicity, courtesy of Froch.

He needs to forget about Froch and, if he is looking for a domestic opponent, then take on Tony B again. The fight was close enough to warrant a return.

Cleverly should fight Braehmer or unify next. Bellew should fight Dawson.

They shouldn't fight each other.

i understand what your saying about losing speed but we all know froch and froch would want the best ward in the ring with him so there is no excuses, froch take ward at 168 then make hopkins move down and face him at 168. i dont see why froch should move up when he is comfortable at sm,hopkins has never fought at sm so it might be somethin he would go for with the titles on the line.

froch is the big name in the fight and is the ticket to cleverley getting his biggest ever purse. why would froch want to move up a weight? if cleverley want froch then drop to SM and go find him. i certainly would watch the fight at SM, cleverley might start fast but the weight loss would catch up with him, and so would froch, in about 7 rounds...i think.

there are plenty of reservations here. the weight, cleverly needing the fight more than froch, etc. i agree with the reservations.

however, if they did fight it'd be a tremendous battle between two fierce ganglers.

i don't see it ever happening. cleverly needed hopkins, who now wants froch following froch's exciting win over kessler. froch wants ward, for revenge, big UK & US money, and ward beat dawson who beat hopkins.

cleverly'd have to do something big and froch'd have to be coming off a loss. and if he did something big, then he wouldn't need froch, etc. we know how it all is.

It's a bit like Joe Calzaghe and Clinton Woods. Cleverley just isn't quite big or exciting enough.

Peak Jones and then Tarver didn't seem to think so.
