Hughies next opponent is relatively durable, went the distance with Sam Sexton etc. If Hughie can get rid of him inside the distance then he really might be one to watch.

The last fella went the distance with most too, I think Hughie made him look far worse than he was, he was pretty much punch perfection, really good variety too.

How can boxers keep their licences when they get obese? I mean they probably would'nt be able to get one if they retested for one. Isn't there a control on this at all?

Hughie is doing well but if he is going to be world champion by December 2014 (which he says he will do to become the youngest world champ ever) he needs to step up soon, there is plenty of prospects ahead of him waiting for their turn.

Mike Tyson and many others fought some incredible shitcan bums before moving up the ranks, so I dont understand the criticisms on Hughie. Personally, I think 10-15 fights he will be facing off against for the EBU championship, 15-20 fights the British/Commonwealth title, 20-25 fights the European championship, and 25-30 fights be gunning for a alphabet world title trinket. At this rate he will accomplish that in two years.

i think after his next fight he should go for someone like dorian darch then I think tom dallas would be a good test just to see how he reacts over 8 or 10 rounds ?? coming through that then it would have to be john mc, ian lewison , skelton or sexton that should see out this year

The problem with that argument is that this is the heavyweight division. Any man 200+ pounds, no matter his skill level, lands on another man's chin (I dont care how far up the ranks they are) is going to put someone to sleep. So the argument against Hughie is sort of baseless, imho, because that argument could happen to anybody. Vladimir Klitschko has adopted a very cautious style to keep lesser men away from his chin, because it is the weakest part of the fort. When you have giant men standing 6'8" or more, and walking about in civilian life nearly 300 pounds, whatever they hit square on they will knock someone the spark out. This is the heavyweight division, knockouts are expected almost every time out. Hughie is still only 18 years old, and in the developmental stage. I wouldn't knock the young man too much. Let's be honest here, his record thus far is actually more impressive than Mike Tyson's first few outings in terms of quality opposition.

Hughie is also much better than Tyson was as a novice pro, he is the best prospect we have had for a while, as long as he lives the life we could have a superstar on our hands.

I have said this before and will repeat it for the last time. Hughie is not as physically developed as Tyson was at his age owing to their different body types he needs time to mature; until he has he shouldn't be going in with top class opponents. I think all this talk of beating Tyson's record is stupid as he isn't going to be fully mature as quick as Tyson was he has got great potential but overmatching him before he has reached his full size and strength is dangerous and is not the best way forward.

People get carried away, way way way too much. He's beaten 5 bums and he's already being mentioned in the same sentence as Rocky Maricano and Mike Tyson .

Let the poor lad develop for a couple of years.

I was actually referring to his cousin Tyson, while I'm excited about him I'm gonna bide my time before comparing him to Iron Mike!

Unsurprising when some people grumbled at Mayweather fighting Canelo i guess. I wouldnt mind him fighting 30 odd learning fights over next 3 years, chavez jnr turned pro early and did similar.

To be fair though Chavez jnr didnt have the amateur career that Hughie has had.

I've compared the quality of his early opponents to Mike Tyson's, as a way to defray the criticism they're not very good. The only Marciano comparison was jokingly saying he'll beat Marciano's undefeated record before fighting for a British title. I think you might be reading the comparisons with Tyson Fury as comparisons with Mike Tyson.

If it wasn't for the flash KD Chavez Jr would have lost to Oisin Fagan who didn't have an amateur career either

I weighed myself this morning, and weighed 202ibs. (Though, until a few weeks ago I was 212, I've been trying to exercise more.) Point is, the belly is there from drinking too much beer, eating too much crap food and spending far too much time being sat on my backside.

I've never had a day of boxing training in my life, and never punched anybody in my life. But, by your criteria, I'm a man of more than 200ibs. Could I put on a pair of gloves and knock out anybody in the heavyweight division, regardless of how highly ranked they are?

And besides all that, the fact that any decent heavy might knock out any other heavy doesn't mean chin isn't relevant. Holyfield, if he had a chin like Wlad's, would never have been champ. We need to see Hughie hit hard.

I'd be interested to see how Hughie would deal with Shrek! I doubt the Russian would threaten to win but would give him rounds and teach home a few tricks.
If Fury is very clinical again it would be a good yardstick against all the other prospects he has fought.
