Bodell beat Bugner though didn't he. And Bodell was far more useless than Fury. Kevin Johnson would do exactly what he does to all the Aussie contenders and stop Bodell fairly easily.

People point to Fury's age but travellers tend to age quickly.

Fury has looked like he was in his mid 30s since he was 18!

I don't think longevity will be his thing.

As for Bugner? Prime for prime, assuming Fury is in his pomp now, Bugner stops him.

Yeah Fury does look far older than he is, same goes for Hughie, no way does he look 18? More like knocking on 30

Who knows? I just think that when you're making a comparison with Fury "never achieved anything" is a phrase that it's too early to use. I publically said when it looked like Fury would fight Pulev that if he won, I would revise my opinion. Bodell won the british title, beat Bugner, and went the distance with Cooper, which are greater achievments than any of Fury's. Hell, getting in the ring with Quarry was a bigger achievement than any of Fury's wins. Fury's big results so far are an out of shape Chisora, and getting his bell rung by a washed up cruiserweight.

Here's the thing, Bodell WASN'T more useless than Fury. He was shorter, but apart from that, I'd say it's an absolutely valid and close comparison. It seems like you're missing that, rather like Bodell, Fury goes in face first, shows no evidence of boxing skills, and doesn't have much of a chin. I'd pick him over Bodell on the basis of his greater weight, and that's it. The Bodell defeat was probably Bugner's worst performance, and if we pick Fury's worst performance, he looks even less impressive. The Bugner who pushed Frazier all the way (and he wasn't a shrinking violet in that fight) easily beats any version of Fury we've seen. Whether he knocks him out I'm less sure; he was no great shakes as a puncher, but I can imagine him stopping an exhausted Fury late on.

From experience that's something of a traveller trait. They are deemed to be men in their mid teens and often are married with kids whilst still teenagers

Life expectancy within in the community is disturbingly low too when compared to the rest of Britain.

He knocked Cunningham out! By your logic, Froch had his clock cleaned by Taylor, Ward has already lost... I could go on. And on...

You're missing the point. Fury's performances so far, though he has won, have revealed massive holes in his ability, and the wins themselves are not exactly stellar. Cunningham moved up because he was out of the running at cruiser, and yet he put Fury down and was for me still just ahead at the time of the stoppage. What would it have done to Mike Tyson's rep if Alfonso Ratliffe had decked him and been outboxing him?

I think Fury is great fun to watch, I like the bloke, and I am prepared for him to find hidden depths and prove me wrong, but regardless, I don't see anything in his career so far to suggest that he's significantly better than Bodell, or as good as the best of Bugner. I think Pulev would have made him look daft, and that both Klitschkos, even at their advanced age, would shut him out with relative ease. I think he'd go out on his shield, because he's a brave lad and he tries to win, but really? All of those things can be said of Bodell too.

He has been successful so far, but the opposition has been largely woeful, and the nearest thing he's had to a live opponent so far made him look daft despite being half his size and washed up. Might he come out the other side of that a world beater? Yes he might. Do I think he will? No.
