Yeah but boxers do have off nights and go through phases. Im sure that even some of the greatest fighters ever have looked like crap in the early years.

I know what you are saying pal, but it is way overused, and to be honest I found it a bit disrespectful to the bloke who fought him as well.

I'm sure Joe Murray has a ton of ability, he was a very good amateur and I'm sure Gavin has seen him do really good stuff in the gym. It's just that Joe really hasn't translated that into a cohesive style as a pro and just doesn't seem to be able to put it all together, I look at him and still don't see a fully fledged professional boxer, he still does amateur-ish things and doesn't seem to sit down on his punches and try and hurt people.

He's one of those boxers who, for me, the clock is ticking on, as at some point he has to start pulling some performances out of the bag and exciting people or he is not gona just get chances handed to him on a plate. His career could just end up meandering along, at least it has done so far.

Looking at his record, he is desperately in need of a step up, I agree with that - hopefully that will give him the spark he needs - he really could do with finding a bit more power from somewhere though imho.

I think judging by last weekends performance when Joe was as rusty as hell its a good job his team havent stepped him up.

I've seen a few of Joe's recent fights. From what I've heard he struggles at feather weight but if he was to campaign at Super Feather I think he would get beat as soon as he fought anyone of note.. Super Feather and lightweight are 2 very very strong divisions in British boxing. Featherweight is probably one of the weaker ones with other than Lee Selby there is a big step down.. If he could make feather a fight with Ryan Walsh or Jon Slowey.. 2 fights that would show what kind of level he is at.. If up at Super Feather he would need to be careful I think he would get bombed out by the likes of Walsh, Clark, Smith maybe someone like Roberts Jnr or Kevin Hooper. Either way his career needs to move on.

Really surprises me the cliché's people spout at times!! Look as Dans trainer I've got to say that I find some of the comments a bit disrespectful. Murray was pushed all the way in this fight & anyone who knows boxing can see that!! Naylor turned pro to go on the road and earn a few quid, he is very very good at being an 'away' fighter and just minimising damage taken, after getting a few results and realising he is a lot better than he thought he was he has had a change of mentality & started to have a go in these fights, getting results away from home is never easy. The fight against Murray has just shown me & Dan that he is at that level rather than the other way around. Would love to have the fight again as I am very confident that Naylor would win it!! No on to Joe Murray, got nothing against the lad, seemed like a nice fella after the fight, but, Jesus!! What on earth is he doing stepping up to super feather?? What is he doing in the gym? He was blowing badly after 4 rounds for the second fight running, Dai Davies in the last fight had him blowing out his arse!! Didn't seem concentrated on the job, was talking to Mike Marsden about weight when Arnie was trying to give him advice during the break, how can doing 9.8 on the day be an issue for someone who's just stepped up from feather?? Apparently he'd made 9.4 the day before just so he knew he could do it?? Why on earth would you do that?? Who's advising him to do that?? And as for being better if he'd been in with better, what a load of shit, if that fight had been a 10 rounder Murray would've been stopped IMHO, how disrespectful was it when John made comments alluding to Dan being poor being to blame for Joes average performance in the iFilm interview afterwards, poor show lads poor show!! He also said that Joes was a good performance?? If the people around him are telling him that he really will not amount to much!! SuperFeather my arse, lazy featherweight, Gary Buckland, Liam Walsh, Gary Sykes, James Tennyson, Anto Cacace, John Simpson, Stephen Smith, Steve Foster Jnr would all beat Joe Murray comfortably.

First 2 sentences sum-up the problem I immediately had with the comments.

I'd say they were honest opinions rather than disrespectful.
But obviously your closer to Dan than us, and see how hard he works in the gym.
I feel the main percentage on here want Dan to win a title or 2 in the future. That Southern Area title for a start
