He seems to have full confidence in his chin; he prowls without a care in the world; a bout with Martinez would be very good.
Yeah he does but I don't think he'd be shrugging off Martinez's blows like that. I hope the fight gets made next year when he comes back.

I expected macklin to get bludgeoned within 5 but according to reports it was looking pretty even until the G meister opened up
First two rounds were pretty one-sided, Mackin gave it a good go in the third and did land a few decent shots, but the didn't seem to have any effect, forced back to the hopes and done with one left hook

It was a very good punch, wasn't loaded up or thrown with muscle, more with technique and leverage. Matthew was down for a long time in pain and with his legs drawn up to his belly, the punch made a loud sound when it landed and Golovkin didn't seem to expect Matthew to rise. It was a very good finish and as Teddy said earlier; Golovkin had rattled Macklin with some very hard head punches without seeming to try too hard.

Macklin was starting to get into the fight in the 3rd but that body shot looked like it broke his ribs, I doubt any fighter would have stood up to that shot.

I think he felt the power early and went into a shell.

I never understood why people thought Macklin was the one to test Golovkin. Sky were building him up as some kind of top level fighter based on his defeats to Sturm and Martinez. Martin Murray performed even better against those two but I doubt he'd be given much chance in the same way as Macklin was.
What is it/was it about Macklin that makes people think he's so good...I just don't get it, someone enlighten me.

Just the one? Did you see Macklin's face in the post-fight interview? That must have been a very hard body shot to bust his face up like that.
Sorry Mr Pedantic but I didn't actually say he got hit with one punch only did I? He got hit with one hard body shot that ended the fight. Go and troll somewhere else.
You said one hard shot. He got hit with several, hence his face being busted-up. Were you expecting Macklin to do better and are upset he didn't? Is that why you've indulged in personal abuse toward another poster who disagrees with you? I predicted a quick win for Golovkin so don't feel the need to take my frustrations out on other posters.

You're hardly disagreeing with me just picking up on the fact I said he got caught with one hard shot. The fact that it was a shot that ended the fight seems neither here nor there to you. Classic that your trying to make me look like a pudendum and yourself as some sort of oracle.
No question that Macklin was getting hit with a variety of hard shots, but he came out in round 3 fighting and seemed like he could make a fight off it and then bam, one hard shot to the body and he's down and counted out. Can't think of the last time I saw a fighter in that much pain and it seemed he tried to get up by pulling on the ropes. Guts.
Hardly think calling you pedantic or accusing you of trolling is personal abuse. Have you had a sheltered up bringing or something?

Hardly. You obviously admire Macklin ("Guts") and there's nothing wrong with that. I got the impression from your first post that you felt Macklin was in the fight until the "one hard shot" landed. That certainly wasn't the case, I thought Golovkin was in control throughout and was handling Macklin with ease when he landed the punch that ended this one-sided contest. Look; a post with no personal abuse in it. You should try it.

Because the men on the television said he was.
Because he was a proven solid boxer in the middleweight division and had a decent chin, stamina and power; as known to most who had seen him live and on the television. Macklin is as good a yard stick as any other in the division and I doubt any other boxer would treat him as awfully as Golovkin did last night. Macklin took his loss as a man and said that Golovkin was the best boxer he'd faced.

Macklin said was too busy defending the sickening power to his face to think about a sickening power shot to the body
Personally I think he lost it mentally after the first round

Yeah he completely lost it and looked ragged.
Murray v Macklin next?
