PED's are rife on the on licensed scene, as in MMA

It's one thing going off to Siberia and losing a fight nobody knows about, it's another thing entirely putting your reputation on the line back home against a guy you beat in your finest hour. With the greatest respect in the world to Negus, whilst he's capable and hard as nails he is not particularly explosive, Potter is. The juice has got to be worth the squeeze for Danny if he thinks there's a strong chance he'll end up on his back.
That's a good saying

Potter was pretty limited in his day, I remember him falling apart against Sprott near the end. Good fighter, strong guy, but I really fail to see how he can be any better now, a decade on? A shot Danny will still KO him.

He also had an mma fight against Oli Thompson a few years ago where he looked pretty feeble. He's been a little flattered fighting people such as a well past-it Butterbean.

That's because his ground game is relatively weak. That's not to suggest Oli Thompson's is anything to write home about. Take my word for it, stood up and with the appropriate training and 'supplement' regime, Potter is a threat to the latter-day Williams - he's a heavy handed guy and knows how to move around.
True. He looked vulnerable at times even against a Neagus that looked old and completely out of shape.

He was beaten up and retired against Chris Bacon and he avoided Mark Potter, he's never been regarded as 'No 1'

Yeah. 'I don't care who you are, if I catch you on the chin you're going for a kip!'
Less than 50% stoppage ratio as a pro, so this statement is nonsense.

Potter reckons Williams is pricing himself out of it.
Spot on

He is....
I knew Danny was but wasn't sure what Potter wanted for the fight. Both are Pricing there self out of the fight.....

Says the man with 7 KOs in 19 fights as a pro.

Danny Williams has been picking up work on the basis of his Tyson win for years
Look at the 'subtle' reference to the Tyson fight on this poster for example:
But surely after all the losses he's endured lately (7 in row up to the Negus debacle) this selling point must be worthless now?

Very sad to see Danny ending his career like this and slipping into the unlicensed circuit too, he needs to have a look at what happened to Howard Clarke. I remember Barry Mcguigan talking about the cumulative effect of the hard fights Williams has had some years ago, who knows how many hundreds of punches he has taken since then.

Potter wipes Williams out now...... without question. but...mark has serious eye issues that would endanger his sight should he fight again, even off the pro circuit, it was his eye that stopped the bbb of c giving him a licence a good few years ago. mark actually has a plastic lens in one eye after his detatched retina led to a cataract ( a common complication).

I don't see the issue. It's Danny's decision. He'll probably make more in his next fight than most make on here in a year...

Because he's going to get seriously hurt? I doubt he's making major money either, he's no more than a journeyman now. The question is, is he capable of making that decision?

Danny is fighting this Friday, 23 August, in Romania - against Giulian Ilie over 8 rounds....
Danny Williams... back again?

So guys, the promoter behind this event in Abu Dhabi is claiming Danny Williams is the headliner and is promoting him as a two-time heavyweight champion.
https://www.facebook.com/events/538004156264978/
I've already been on there and said it's shameful to be allowing him to box given his current condition (and let's not even touch on the way he's being marketed to a public who don't know their boxing), but anyone else is obviously welcome to contribute their own comments.
As for Danny, what is it going to take for him to walk away... so sad.

If he wants to fight and is physically and mentally able to fight then let the man fight, I personally hope he can turn this losing streak around and make a final stand in his career and go out on a high after all a couple of wins and a fight against McDermott for the English belt isn't out of the question and would be a good ending to his career

Anyone who thinks it should be up to Danny if he continues to fight should look up the story of Howard Clarke as one example of what can happen when fighters are allowed to fight on too long... there are literally 100s of other cases. Boxing is the best sport in the world but it can take a terrible toll on fighters, this is why fighters like Danny need to be saved from themselves. The fact that the BBBC will nolonger license him says it all, I ve seen some people in this forum knock the BBBC but for safety they are second to none imo and its a shame that there are bloodsuckers about who will allo Danny to fight and continue to promote him while he can still walk into a ring. Where will these people be in 10 or 15 years time when he is having trouble remembering his name and where he lives???. They will be sucking the blood out of someone else by then and Danny will be just a faint memory to them.
