In a word no. I watched Bruno/Lewis again the other day. Although he obviously strong and heavy-handed, he was awfully slow and muscle-bound. His gas tank was emptying before Lewis caught him. And I think he only got to the finish line against McCall because the American had such a slow start. Realistically all the champions would stop him in the championship rounds, including Povetkin. Haye too would be to mobile and do the same thing. I think he could stop Fury though.

I think Vitali outlasts him, he has a good chance against anyone else. If he fought Wlad I wonder if he'd be so keen on holding as much as he usually does given Franks roughing up on the inside? I could easily see Bruno mauling him.

Frank would have been a quality fighter in any era. He'd always have that puncher's chance but I can't see him beating the Klit boys.

I would say that if Vitali can't drop a fat 40 year old Corrie Sanders, or stop or even drop a fat 40 year old Shannon Briggs, he clearly lacks the power to KO Bruno.

I remember Vitali was also clueless on the inside with Lewis, holding on with no inside game at all, a situation where Bruno would be clubbing him around mercilessly. That Bruno jab could certainly shred that skin. Wladimir . . . He's hardly going to be taking risks with a puncher of Bruno's force. He's going to try fight at a pace where stamina doesn't come into play and that's going to suit Bruno perfectly. At some point a Bruno bomb lands and Wladimir will be back in his familiar position, quivering on his back.

What on earth Povetkin has done for anyone to rate him is beyond me. A sluggish win over a fat, hep-ridden Chagaev and a hellish struggle with Huck. Povetkin really is a nobody in world terms, I'm amazed some of you see anything in him.

Yeah he would, he shit himself against mikeTyson twice, the rest bar Witherspoon were old men or stopped him!!!Tyson fury 6:9 and like a war I think he would beat Bruno so what's you problem? British & commonwealth champion at 23, was Bruno?

Fury would actually be a good match for Fury. Big, hittable, and with a vulnerable streak. I would heavily favour Bruno to win inside the distance. Klitschko's definitely a bridge too far. Lewis is a common link to Vitali - certainly the more developed (if slightly under-trained) Lewis had life and death against Vitali. It wasn't the same story with younger Lewis against Bruno.

Performance wise I would agree it was his best performance, although watch that fight and his first fight against Tyson back to back. He was like in slow motion vs Lewis.

The experience and boxing brain of Bruno 1993 combined with the physicality of Bruno 1989 was Bruno at his best. He bulked up too much post Tyson 1.

Agreed. Bruno's muscular bulk was always a significant factor in his lack of stamina but it got worse as he concentrated more on strength and conditioning. He should've left blighty and done some top quality sparring and get some coaching in the States to try and loosen the tendons and ring movement. I loved him but he never quite learned to gauge his power. He couldn't go up and down through the gears with his punches, he was always full on and filled his arms with lactic acid.

? Frank didn't have one.

He had 'glass eyes' when Lennox was pummeling him. Stunned and not defending himself well, but the actual chin held up.

Bruno could still win a world title in todays mix .... how long he woudl keep it is another question however.

Wladimir would stop him.... but as the current HW scene isn't one of the stronger ones, Frank still has the jab and KO power to trouble alot of todays top guys.

Remember the only guys he lost to were Lewis & Tyson (two all time greats) and Witherspoon/Smith who both won world titles.
He never lost to a fighter who wasn't amonst the best in his respective era

It's funny how people's perception of a fighter gets more impressive once they've retired for a bit. Bruno was shit but could punch. I suggest anyone looks at his fights to see the crap he won against. He only ever beat one half decent fighter in their vague prime and that was career journeyman (albeit extremely tough) crack head Oliver McCall.... Everyone else battered him. He wouldn't get close to Wlad, Vitali..... Guys like ray Mercer, Shannon Briggs, Corrie Sanders, maybe even Frans Botha would've crushed him

For me:

Vitali - too tough and determined. Unless Bruno lands the absolute Sunday punch, Vitali is stopping him late or winning on points. It'd be close early, but as Bruno started to slow, Vitali would take over.

Wlad - could go either way. It wasn't easy to outbox Bruno at range the way Wlad likes to do now, and if it turns into an actual fight, Wlad's chin is being taken out. If Wlad can stay out of the way for 6 rounds though, the fight would be his.

Povetkin - Easy win for Frank. Doesn't really bring anything to the table, is too small, doesn't hit hard. Frank dictates behind the jab, and get the stoppage if Povetkin tries to win.

Haye - not a good match for Frank in some ways, but could go either way. It's Haye's speed vs Frank's jab; if Frank lands big, Haye is going down and out (Frank isn't Mormeck), but if Haye lands big, I can't see him letting Frozen Frank off the hook. Haye had trouble getting past Wlad's jab though....

Fury - easy for Frank. Not much skill, poor chin, likes a tearup, and doesn't seem to hit that hard. If Frank lands like Cunningham did, it's all over, he can match him for pace and was a more organised boxer.

Pulev - tough night for Bruno. Good jab, good chin, comes on stronger as the fight goes on. Hard to see a win there.

Hard puncher was old Frank, but he couldnae take a shot. He did not neccessarily go down, but his defences went to bits when clouted and he took some horrific beatings on the ropes.

Also a dirty fighter. Always throwing rabbit punches and holding on. I would take him to beat Price and Chisora but haye would have stopped him and Fury would beat him into next week.

I agree that Bruno had power, and that it was sometimes his stamina that let him down. But his stamina wouldn't be tested against Fury. Bruno would've taken Fury inside of five, his power was just too much.

Bruno's power hurt Lewis and Tyson, it'd be more than enough to beat a mug like Fury.
