I know British fans love to trot out "oh say what you want about the BBBoC but they are ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to looking after fighters".
Personally I think thats all hype. All EBU registered sanctioning bodies have near identical procedures and critieria when it comes to fighters safety. Actually the BBBoC have shown themselves up as being totally outdated recent when it comes to the issue of scans and anomoilies with scans.

Re: Game on. Luxembourg vs BBBofC
The BBB of C do a good job, but they lack leadership. With so many QCs on their letteheads how on earth could they make so many legal errors over the Luxemburg affair ? I understand that the cost of legal advice over this was excessive.
If they had someone at the top ,who was a wise old head, and was both respected and trusted by the other office holders, then they would never have got into this situation. Remember, if Luxemburg are suing the Board ,and win, then all the legal costs and the subsequent fine will come out of money paid into the Board by ALL licence holders in one way or another.
I've said before that there are one or two highly respected and honourable men with a great depth of boxing knowledge who could provide the direction needed. For instance, when a media statement is required they roll out the General Secretary. Why?? When there is an important decision , or issue , then in the real world the Chairman or President appears. Why do they have a Chairman AND President anyway ?
Has anyone ever heard the current Chairman being interviewed on TV ? Its left to Robert Smith.
Where is the LEADERSHIP ????

The GBA aint but theyve copied the EBU standards for H&S. Obviously LuxBox were, not sure if theyve reapplied yet, but they've done the same thing. The Insider wrote:The GBA and Luxembourg aren't in the EBU are they?slapbangwhallop wrote:Have LuxBox or GBA any lower standards when it comes to H&S?Final round wrote:Whether you like the BBBofC procedures or not their safety record is excellent and they make sure the brutal and dangerous sport is regulated and fights are sanctioned and matched correctly with some excellent experienced well trained referees who have the fighters safety paramount.

Mainly because Smith is the only one of the Board that I have ever seen speak that doesnt come across as a totally out of date, out of touch, pompous w*****! The rest of them are a PR disaster.dalcumly wrote:The BBB of C do a good job, but they lack leadership. True, although the addition of Denis Gilmartin as senior administraion officer may help the boards image.slapbangwhallop wrote:Mainly because Smith is the only one of the Board that I have ever seen speak that doesnt come across as a totally out of date, out of touch, pompous w*****! I can see the obsession some people have with democracy, but feel things are run well and Britain is respected worldwide for how boxing is run.
Regarding Luxembourg. If a footballer i.e. Eric Cantona is banned for a period of time, he can't go to Luxembourg or any other country to ply his trade, as his ban will be upheld by every country in FIFA. I understand our complicated sport has no world body but wasn't the Chisora situation similar? Britain simply encouraged other countries to honour our ban. If you want any other approach your favouring anarchy.

What does everybody think will happen longterm when all the Lawyers have taken their huge fees out of all this and all that is left is boxing people
Will it be that there is no control over the sport at all or will perhaps the EBU run everything with Sub Committees in each Country
Thoughts Please

I dont think the Board will need to. They will either win or have to yield to terms that Bruce/LuxBox set i reckon.Final round wrote:Do you think the board could go into administration spudder ?spudder56 wrote:What does everybody think will happen longterm when all the Lawyers have taken their huge fees out of all this and all that is left is boxing people

Dont know mate I beleive they have reserves etc What I really want to know is who would control Boxing if it was that the board lose etc Maybe Bruce and Luxbox would run it all mind you I dont think he would be allowed to blatantly breech his own regulations like he does with his Masters Titles etc Check out British Masters Titles on Google and look at his rules as regards the Masters Titles and then check out how many of his title fights meet the criteria

"LEADERSHIP" isnt dependant on or demonstrated by being interviewed on TV.

To the Thai flyweight.
No Leadership isn't simply giving interviews, but when there is a crisis ,and loss of confidence in a business, then the man at the top has to go public and tell everyone what direction the business is going in. If a British Airways jet crashes you won't get the company secretary coming on BBC and telling us not to panic .

Yes, but to be fair to the BBBoC, they have never crashed a jet and been responsible for 100s of people dying in a giant ball of flame.
Im sure if they did, the Chairman would be wheeled out to explain exactly why the BBBoC was operating commercial aircraft.

Be careful what you wish for folks.
Enough people around here connected with boxing so let's see.
Who would you like to see as General Secretary ?
Chairman ?

We all know what the masters titles are worth and how they are run but I'm not sure what relevance they have in the grand scheme of the legal battle. I don't think Bruce's plan is to be the new head of boxing in the UK.

Good Point mate I know what he really wants is a reduction in Licence fees etc also to be able to run shows on the cheapest sanctioning body possible etc For what its worth I agree Licence fees should come down Thats where the board are alienating themselves They are living in a time warp everybody in the UK has to reduce their outgoings but the board are increasing theirs !!! Ultimately the Licence holders will be footing the bill for all the Lawyers fees etc To be honest I just dont know how this will or indeed can be resolved but one thing is certain neither the board or bruce can keep shelling out money like this OK whoever loses will have to foot the costs etc but untill there is a resolution both Parties will be paying money up front to their lawyers on account Rest assured Lawyers will keep this going as long as possible coz after all they are running businesses Is there any common dialogue between both parties that could enable both parties to sit round the table and sort things out face to face instead of going through expensive 3rd Parties all the time SURELY that is the only way forward IMO

It's not an obsessions with democracy, its an obsession with accountability and the best way to have accountability is to have those with powers know that they will be fucked out of their position if they prove themselves incapable of carrying out the role or worse still corrupt.
Dont you think the people that run boxing would know how to run boxing better than anyone else.
As for your Cantona analogy - well that falls at the first hurdle - the BBBoC never banned Chisora. If they had the balls to that he would have been on the EBU banned list and LuxBox wouldnt have given him a licence.

How do you think this will all end up in the end ?

I think the Board will realize they are flogging a dead horse and will eventually yield to whatever terms the LuxBox organistion set. The Board will also probably end up paying out a few quid in costs etc. Having said that the Board must think it has a good case or they wouldn't have taken things this far. Who knows?spudder56 wrote:
