He's speaking, just banging on incoherently.

wasn't he worth $250m about 8-10yrs ago and he's now broke? Used to fighting in Vegas on a Saturday and now he's talking in Gateshead on a Wednesday. I wouldn't have expected him to be buzzing exactly.
It's too easy to knock people and that's why I refuse to do it. If I grew up quite poor and without a great education (or even with), I'm sure I could lose a fortune just as well as any of these guys.
Still stood toe to toe with and made Iron Mike "give best", so clearly a guy of some substance.

I'm going to the Cardiff show on Tues 24th. It's £95 per head for that one including a meal but I'm going for free as I designed and printed the poster

I was at the Gateshead event last night.
I thought Evander was pretty lucid & coherant (I was sitting right in front of him though).
He talked about his early fights & his battles with Bowe & Tyson -
Also talked about his alleged use of steriods - particularly in relation to Tyson II where the Tyson camp were adament he was taking them.
Inbetween rounds Evander could hear Tyson's corner saying that (because he was pushing Tyson back with ease) he MUST be on steriods, but Holyfield had the last laugh after the fight, when the pre-fight doping test he took - was negative.
Got to meet Evander pre-event -
said his hardest fight was against Dwight Muhammad Qawi
said the hardest fighter he had faced was Lennox (due to his style)
said the hardest puncher he faced was George Forum
All in all I enjoyed the event :-)

Drrr, should have used the 'preview' option!
Forum should of course have read 'Foreman'...
And no, he probably don't hit as hard was the Boxrec Forum LOL :-)

Its the worst one I've been too! And that's saying something considering I seen Joe Frazier who could hardly walk or talk and Jake La Motta who was in his 90's and didn't know what day of the week it was let alone what country he was in.
Holyfield talked for about 30 mins answering scripted questions about his childhood, his mother, god and the Tyson fight. It was shít, he came across as a racist and had the neck to accuse Tyson of been on steroids
By the end people were that bored they were just chatting away over the top of the guff he was spouting.

i see evander on monday night in slough and i was surprised at how well he spoke , i thought he slurred his worlds a little but he sounded fine to me , he spoke about his mother and childhood but not a lot about his fights . he left before the question and answers section but tim witherspoon who was there said a few words.
i got talking with witherspoon and i have to say he was just about the coolest guy i have met , we drank more than few rums together and he was really funny with the promotions girls and then after he asked me to go to a strip club with him i was with my mrs and 30 miles from home so i didn't think sending her home and going to a watch stripper with former 2 time heavy weight champion of the world would go down to well so i had to pass ....i doubt i'll ever get the chance to go on the lash with a former heavy weight champ ...............tim witherspoon super cool guy

So, the Holyfield night went ok. Started off getting a photo with him and Tony Tucker before moving into the conference room where Holy got introduced and then we had dinner while a video played on a big screen.
After a long dinner and then an even longer auction (hate auctions), Tucker did a small interview which was half decent and then they moved on to Holy after a small break. He spoke for about 50mins, answering prompting questions from the compere. Mostly spoke of his upbringing and how he got into boxing before moving on to his pro career.
Then it started to go a bit tits up. He was talking about winning the HW title off Buster Douglas and then the compere said "yeah you obviously beat him twice and the second time was the infamous ear biting incident, are we ok to talk about that Evander?" - errm he was talking about Douglas not Tyson you d1ck. So Holy gets a little confused himself and starts talking about the first Tyson fight and steroids and then they say time is up, it's 11.30 so our window is closed.
No discussion on the bite fight, no talk of any of the Bowe fights, Lewis fights or anything further. Felt completely robbed of all the interesting stuff he could've talked about, if they knew we had to stop at 11.30 they should've got him on earlier. Ridiculous.
To be fair to Holy he then said let's at least have some questions as he wasn't going anywhere in a hurry. That's when it really went tits up haha. Some oldish Irish guy said he'd attended both Lewis fights and he thought Holy wasn't very good in the first but thought he nicked the second (this, I think, was him trying to be courteous). Holy danced around the question a bit and started to claim he was sick going into the first, the Irish guy then says out loud "I don't fecking believe this, I'm sitting down" haha, Holy keeps rambling about being sick etc and the Irish guy stands back up and says "don't talk crap, you were fecking shite that night mate", leading the compere to call a quick halt to the night
Overall it was an ok night, could've been very good, but it was cool just to meet the guy and shake his hand.
