Oh yes, I agree I was very annoyed about Pinto vs Hatton not happening, I had my eye on some big cash with a Pinto win but all I am saying there is nothing that can be done. Whether the promoter is just making an excuse or is telling the truth, what can be done.

I suggested that FW should have offered a full refund for all those people who didn't want to see Hatton vs Pedersen, that would have been the best he could have done - how many though would have taken him up and how many of those tickets would he have re-sold? As Ricky has said he could sell out the M.E.N fighing a telletubby, the vast majority would have been gutted and complained if the card was scrapped.

If a double header gig of the Beatles and The Stones was arranged and the promoter announced a day before that the Beatles were forced to pull out cause two of its members have died, then I would want some refund. Thats the only thing I could ask for, I wouldn't go (like the article mentioned in John Shep's announcement basically did) claiming that it wasn't because two members of the beatles had died, its was because of something else. I'd have to accept the promoters reasoning.

In that thread I have posted an instance when Barry Hearn did the very thing he is making a 'joke' about i.e. one of his promotions where the fight poster featured a boxer who didn't appear.

Absolutely, and I have suggested (in a post elsewhere in the thread) that in such a situation a promoter should give a full refund for an unused tickets given before the fight and then try and resell the tickets.

Would I have demanded to a refund for a Smiths concert with Johnny Marr, yes. However, having a refund must mean I can't still go to the concert. At least the option is there, but that all a promoter can really do. I'm sure FW would have had a lot less complaints for the change of opponent than if he scrapped the card all together. I doubt the majority would have taken the offer of the refund, but at least the gesture is there.

I don't know, perhaps there you can always get a refund but it should be made public "If anyone is not happy about the situation, just take your ticket to the box office a couple of hours before the boxing and you'll get a refund".

i wouldnt be surprised if it was a con by the italian team, they are always up to these kind of tricks....

pretty much every big fight involving an italian is messed around...

Wayne Braithwaite was messed around for ages as was Bobby Vanzie to name just two instances.....

Exactly. This is why, as I said in my very first post on this thread, the whole thing stinks and needs to be explained.
