He was called a 'fake', phony and a fraud, they even called the but 'fixed'.
I see you've moved on from your claim that an overwhelming majority of the press saw Jones as the winner and prefer to burble on vaguely about Jones' hometown crowd being upset by the decision.
My work here is done.

AP: 5-4-1 Jones
UPI: 6-3-1 Clay
Oakland Tribune: 5-4-1 Jones
Long Beach Press-Telegram: 7-1-2 Clay
UPI poll of 25 writers at ringside: 13 for Jones, 10 for Clay, and 2 even.

Since we are in the land of the absurd I added up all the rounds for Clay and Jones and those that were even.
32 for Clay...26 for Jones

Since this entire thread is so ambiguous.....I have to ask.....
Is this the "Von Clay" or Cassius in this case?
It started out as Von.......and it wobbles back and forth......
So this whole thread is meant to be sort of a red herring at all times I guess.

I realize counterfactual boxing history is always an interesting parlor game in these environs but it's always leaves you in a morass of conjecture and supposition.

Just for your information
The 'overwhelming majority' of the Ringside Reporters had it for Doug Jones.
Wrong as usual. The Associated Press scored it 5-4-1 for Jones, but their poll of ringsiders went for Ali by 7 votes to 5.
Solomon,
That was the Associated Press overview.
You 'fail' to mention that the UPI interviewed 25 Writers who had it 13-10-2 for
Doug Jones.
Also, the New York Daily News had it the other way as well.......'with an overwhelming edge for Doug Jones',
as they interviewed '38' Madison Square Garden regulars who scored the bout in favor for Mr. Jones = {25-8-5}.
Do you know 'Solomon' was no Prophet, he was a 'political hack'.
If you add the UPI poll and the AP you get 18 votes for Jones, 17 for Ali, and 2 a draw. This off course ignores the possibility of some overlap between the two polls. Even if we ignore the AP poll and just use the UPI (which could have been made up by Douche) simply because it supports the Jones argument I still fail to see how a margin of 1 to 3 newspapers more voting for Jones is an "overwhelming majority." Its not. Basically it reflects what every unbiased minded individual who has seen the fight already knows and that is that the fight was close. Close fights going one way or another are not a robbery.

Seriously Duce....please clarify
Is this thread about the Von Clay fight with Jones...OR the fighter later to be known as Ali.
You CLEARLY started this out about Von Clay correct?
A fighter that Doug spent much of the middle of his career feasting on.
So which fighter are you referring to?
