Sometimes it's worse because most of the time it's the promoter paying for the hotel and travel. What you need is a database with a history of judges scoring, like the records archive on Boxrec. Obviously that's a major piece of work for someone but then at least we'd know what may happen when a certain official gets appointed, if the judge / ref knows they're being looked at before the fight starts then it may encourage them not to score in a particular way shall we say.
