Well then you have a short memory. Al catch weight fights get people's goats. I don't see the problem here - Alvarez agrees to it and had ample time to make weight in an effective way. I don't think it makes a jot of difference.

I disagree again, it, the catch-weights, did not stop some people putting what is basically an unskilled brawler with speed and power as p4p number 1.

Compared to Floyd, PAc can barely box.

Fair play I agree Canelo is the one with so much to gain from the fight, money wise and if he wins career-wise. People have to do what they do for the money, I get it, but why take a man who is clearly a massive guy at 154 and make him shed another 2 pounds?

He fought Cotto at 154, why can't he fight Canelo at 154? No-one seems to be able to answer that.

We all know the reason Mayweather forced the 2lb catchweight difference and its to try and limit the huge size difference on fight night, its as simple as that and makes 100% sense.

To be honest if I was Mayweather id have told him to make it 150. lol

I think the answer is.....because he can!

He did not have to move up to fight him, people forget tat Floyd was a 9st 4lbs fighter back in the day, Canelo is naturally much heavier. And Canelo might weight 12st 4lbs come fight night as he did for Trout.

10st 10 1/2 Vs 12st 4Lbs.

Lt Middle Vs Lt Heavy.

Cotto could still make welterweight and probably came in the ring no higher than 165lbs, whereas Alvarez usually comes in well over 12st, to ask Mayweather to fight with a 20lbs+ weight disadvantage is asking a lot, this is the way of evening things up a bit physically.

Yes they did on both counts although Oscar was expected to be far to big. In fact Floyd refuses to acknowledge Cotto's loss against Pacman as a real defeat due to the two pounds. Hopefully that gets thrown back in his face after tonight's fight.
