There have been a few too many "just wasn't right on the night" performances from Frankie (Barnes, Woodhouse, Mutley).
He has all the talent and I could see him beating some top-10 fighters, but just have the feeling he'd come a cropper in a "routine" fight.
Still looks like he's fighting a weight class above his ideal weight too.

Seems idiotic for a future world level boxer (potentially) to learn the same lesson twice, after Woodhouse fight.
Come on Frankie, people spend a few days wages on a night to watch you box. You'll be third time unlucky if you carry on f&cking around.
On your night you're top notch so stop giving the trolls a reason to give you grief and get on with giving us value for money.

I think that people are being harsh in regards to the Barnes performance. They're both slick, counter punching southpaws so that was never a fight destined to set the worls alight! On a seperate note Frankie very much strikes me as a confidence boxer and people ripping him for his performances will if anything cause him to box worse!

Coming from one of the worst trolls on Boxrec, that doesn't really bother me buddy.
I didn't write anything inflammatory to deserve that, you're still illiterate, and you're a Frankie Gavin fanboy to boot.

Must be awesome being you.

Just seen this Frankie and I don't know you personally but if you were a mate of mine this is what I'd tell you, please don't take offence:
For F**k sake Frankie. You have got a lot of talent. No more lessons learned right. Take each fight like your life is on the line. Stop messing around and train like Mayweather, no train more than Mayweather. You have an opportunity to be retired in 5 years with more money than you could dream of. Keep your dick in your pants and worry about women when you are a filthy rich retired boxer. Do you want it Frankie, really? Because you can get to the top, but you need to want this more than anything. Don't put one fatty piece of food in your mouth. Don't stop in the gym until your coach has to make you. Don't stop drilling your sparring partners until they are on the floor. When you are resting don't watch anything other than classic fights on youtube. Stop putting tweets out there about TV programmes and jokes for your mates to read. In fact don't tweet at all. Your promoter is there to promote you, you don't need twitter. Every time you want to check out a social media site DON'T. Get on the floor and bang out 300 press ups. Who gives a sh*t about what your mates think. Think, sleep, dream of boxing Frankie and in 5 years time you can never lace up a boxing glove again cause you will not need to. Your mates, true mates, will know and respect you for it and your name could go down as one of the greats. But unless you sacrifice everything then you may go down as another European champion who did well but nobody in the next generation will know your name. So Frankie, do you really want it? Do you want the next 2 generations to come to know Frankie Gavin was an all time great. Surely you want people to be saying Frankie Gavin was up there with the best British boxers ever......

I wish someone told me this when I was in a position to make it in football. Now my mates earn serious wedge while I'm working in an office. So it comes from the heart. Frankie may not like this post neither may you, but yes I believe this is what it takes and whether Mayweather lives like this or not I don't really care. As I said I hope Frankie goes one better than Maywether and does do sit ups while reading boxing news. Got to take it to another level if you want to be the greatest Hurlock.....

I have read Gary Neville's autobiography - both he and his brother Phil (and his sister for that matter) are all determined, hard working and driven with that single minded determination to get the most out of whatever they do.
One of the comments that I found interesting (and at the time quite shocking) was that he said that the day he signed for Manchester United his life changed.
From that day he did not knock about or even keep in contact with any of his old mates and he decided that he will get new mates at United - new successful mates who were successful at football in the top club - just like he wanted to be.
I have also read other books that pretty much say that if you want to be successful then associate with successful people - preferably in the field that you want to be successful in.
I am not saying that this is the right way for everybody, but it shows the sacrifices that some people make to get to the top in theor sport / profession.

Poor performance from Gavin.
After that, to talk about him stepping up to the levels of Maidana is foolish.
I'm shocked that a fighter on the cusp of stepping up to Euro level could say I thought I just needed to turn up.
Yet another example of his poor discipline.
It's a case of got way with it but do that at the next level and it's game over.
What is it with our welterweights and poor discipline?
