I think you've got that wrong. Most people with very gentle handshakes generally haven't been brought up to 'know' how to shake a hand 'properly'. That's not a dig at them, as it's not really their fault - not that having a soft handshake is a fault necessarily - and it doesn't make me think any less of them.

On the flip side, people with crushing handshakes are all knobs. No exceptions.

Working on the door all the idiots used to try and crush my hand, my hands are bad too, had a few rows over it!

Never really understood all that firm handshake stuff. Looking at people in the eye whilst talking yeah, but I can't say I'd personally remember a bloke or judge them by their hand shake?

It's not something I notice.

I agree it's not hygienic. But I think it's originally about showing you have no weapon in your hands.
