WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
Re: WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
Which would make Wlad adopt a different style from the one he has been using against the little fellas. Against Wach he showed decent aggression and he'd do the same and more against Fury. Those who think he's a one trick pony would be reminded that he's got more than one string to his bow.

Unless you are working on Wlads PR lets see him at his best etc What does Fury have to trouble Wlad? apart from a fighters heart. It's a mismatch.Aden wrote:Which would make Wlad adopt a different style from the one he has been using against the little fellas. It may well be a mismatch but while it lasted it would be a better specticle than what we've just seen. That's the point.Final round wrote:Unless you are working on Wlads PR lets see him at his best etc What does Fury have to trouble Wlad? apart from a fighters heart. I don't believe it would be. Povetkin would bang out Fury IMOJ-C wrote:It may well be a mismatch but while it lasted it would be a better specticle than what we've just seen. Wlad would either knock him out or fold him in half
Re: WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
But who is better out of Povetkin and Fury is irrelevant when it comes to entertainment value. Think about it, Tua would have banged out Grant, but what was more fun to watch Lewis/Tua or Lewis/Grant?
There's a chance it would be over in a round of course but I'd still rather see that than 12 rounds of leaning.

Agreed on the short term entertainment but I'd like to see someone who mount a serious challenge and there is no one..J-C wrote:But who is better out of Povetkin and Fury is irrelevant when it comes to entertainment value. I honestly don't know whether Fury will be outclassed or surprise us all. He's that kind of fighter, you just don't know, he surprised me against Kevin Johnson...but I wouldn't question Fury's power. If he lands cleanly I think he has the power to take Wlad clean out, he just doesn't land cleanly very often.palooka wrote:Fury wouldn't go 4 with Wlad; he hits far too hard and is far too strong, Wlad isn't shy of taking a punch and Fury isn't a chin wrecker.
Re: WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
The thing is Neil, Povetkin was a very proven high class and full time fighter, no bad marks on his book; he was dropped a couple of times and manhandled tonight. Tyson is very entertaining and full of promise, we don't know how good he will be but we do know he wasn't a European or Olympic champion as an amateur, when Wlad can do someone who is so accomplished then anyone who comes knocking who hasn't accomplished so much has to be viewed with suspicion and not hope, The punch that dropped Povetkin the first time was a disguised hook/jab and Wlad seems to be improving, I imagine if he boxed someone the same height he'd really take them apart - I don't think he'll lose until he chooses to retire.Neil Gee wrote:I honestly don't know whether Fury will be outclassed or surprise us all. I don't think Fury would beat Wlad, but i also don't think he would allow himself to be hugged for however long the fight lastedpalooka wrote:The thing is Neil, Povetkin was a very proven high class and full time fighter, no bad marks on his book; he was dropped a couple of times and manhandled tonight. I don't think anyone is that happy about it to be honest but they don't seem to be able to do a lot about it and when they do, they get whacked really hard. It's not as if any opponent has to go to think too hard about what Wlad is going to do but non of them can carry theory into practice.

A Fury challenge should be viewed with derision rather than suspicion. He would be ruined, even if he turned up wearing his best fighting "jeans".palooka wrote:The thing is Neil, Povetkin was a very proven high class and full time fighter, no bad marks on his book; he was dropped a couple of times and manhandled tonight. Tickets went for $50k
Wrestle mania ringside tickets are much cheaper but less clinching.

As far as Fury goes - I don't think he will survive Haye but at least if he fought Klitschko he wouldn't meekly accept the clinching as Pov did - he would be whacking away at Wladimir and trying to shove and maul him back.
I think, sadly, Fury would have to employ John Ruiz-tactics and keep that glass chin inside Wlad's power range and simply beat Wlad up at his own filthy game.
As much as I think Fury is a delusional fool I would be delighted to see him bully back this dirty cheat, wearing him out then clubbing his brains out.

wlad beaten 3 undefeated fighter in a row now. thats some achievement too.
i wonder what the record is for beating consecutive undefeated fighters. (of course this doesnt mean they were the best available)

Re: WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
He's easily the worst heavyweight champ that some fans think is an all time top-tenner. I'm sorry but as far as I'm concerned you actually have to be willing to fxxking fight when you get in the ring.
Wlad is a guy with freakish physical advantages who has perfected a way of getting through a fight with minimal fuss. As long as a soft referee doesn't apply the rules, he's fine.
He won't be missed when he leaves the sport. Statistically in terms of record and defences his reigns have been impressive but he won't be spoken about with the greats. He is basically a robot. No passion, no flair, just a robot who has perfected a cheating style.

Watching Klitschko fight is akin to watching a cruel kid pull the legs off an insect, but where the kid is absolutely terrified of the insect! Wlad fights likes a giant barnacle and is an embarrassment to the heavyweight championship of the world. Its really that simple.

Re: WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
I think Fury's best chance would be to just come out throwing hard long range jabs and right hands, he has the reach to hit Wlad at range without Wlad just being able to paw at him with the jab. Unfortunately, I don't think Fury has good enough technique to do this well enough, but he would be the first guy Wlad has faced in his entire career who is taller and has a longer reach.loaded_gloves wrote:As far as Fury goes - I don't think he will survive Haye but at least if he fought Klitschko he wouldn't meekly accept the clinching as Pov did - he would be whacking away at Wladimir and trying to shove and maul him back.

Actually Wach was taller with a longer reach (not as much as Tyson tho), and it made for a much better fight than Wlad's usual. Be fun to see what Fury could do.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Fury's best chance would be to just come out throwing hard long range jabs and right hands, he has the reach to hit Wlad at range without Wlad just being able to paw at him with the jab. Haye would beat fury but the world needs fury vs Wlad for the simple fact fury will highlight Wlads 'cheating' tactics, probably nut him at some stage
Re: WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
While I in no way consider Wlad to be a great I'd just like to add that many greats bent the rules, in fact it happens in a lot of sports, the guys at the pointy end will push the boundaries as far as the authorities will allow, it's up to the authorities to enforce the rules.
The thing that seperates the great from the good is that when they get given an inch the great will take a mile.

Fury will be too busy trying to get up off the floor to do any nutting.danconnollyeire wrote:Haye would beat fury but the world needs fury vs Wlad for the simple fact fury will highlight Wlads 'cheating' tactics, probably nut him at some stage
Re: WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?
Who else if left for the Klitschko boys to fight? Most have either been taken out or aren't ready. There's only Pulev, Fury, Stiverne or Helenius that would create any kind of interest. And are any of them really going to be challenging?
Fury would excite me purely because of his big talk, and also his size would add something different. Don't think he stands a chance though. Anyhow, I don't think he'll get past Haye. Just can't get enthused about Haye fighting either of them after the last effort.
It's a pretty barren wasteland at the minute, but it could be worse. In November 2005, after Vitali (temporarily) retired, the four belt holders were Lamon Brewster, Chris Byrd, Hasim Rahman and John Ruiz. The fantastic four I think not!
