Altho I think it's a bad move you really can't blame Derry. He clearly wanted more money to fight Mitchell, and he's never been offered a deal from match room who have made a error imo. Always entertaining and good for tv. I hope it works out for the lad.

Why are people using this to bash matchroom with? He wasn't a matchroom fighter but they looked after him. He's gone backwards with this and clearly hasn't thought it through. His ceiling is European level. The money fights for him are all at domestic level, they have no chance of happening now. He's targeting Gethin in his 2nd fight when Crolla is quite likely to beat him. Strange move

If Coldwell brokered fights onto Matchroom cards then that doesn't really have anything to do with Hearn, who procurred his services for the night like he does with several other fighters lately.

Woodhouse isn't a matchroom fighter either but has been afforded TV fights through Coldwell's relationship with Matchroom.
And Coldwell found out today's news on twitter. Very classy Derry.

:shame:

Crolla won't fight Gethin, he's most likely looking at a higher level now. He's getting the same money for Ormond as he would have got for Mitchell, at this stage of his career he has to go for the paydays. He'll be at home, headlining and being paid well from the sound of things.

I know Derry checks the forum and if you read this good luck with the new promotional deal always in a good fight.

Just went on his twitter and he posted this interview up.

http://firstclassboxing.com/derry-matth ... romotions/
Doesnt sound like he was overly happy with how he was treated by matchroom.
Yeah after the Woodhouse win,he did seem somewhat irked that Mithchell,Crolla etc were being mentioned in title shots with Burns before him

Its a tough one for them coz theyve all pretty much beat one and lost too another(Mathews,,Crolla,Rees) and Mitchell just had a shot at Ricky
None of them will get a shot at Ricky simply because none are good enough, there could have been good fights made between them all but if they stepped up they would have been badly beaten and they all know it

I had gathered that Beloved James, however if you hadnt noticed his last 4 or 5 or maybe fights had been on matchroom shows. Mr Coldwell doesnt have a tv deal.

If you read the link to an interview he did today you'll see that he said the money he would of got for fighting Mitchell is the same he'll get for fighting Ormond even though Mitchell on paper is a much tougher fight.

Anyway, using the logic some were using in regards to McDonnell leaving Hobson, we shouldnt feel sorry for Coldwell as he couldnt provide a tv deal for his fighters...

With the fullest of respect Derry's last good few fights have been on sky with excellent exposure all down to the negotiating of Derrys manager Dave Coldwell, at the end of the day it is a bad way imo to deal with things a Dave deserved more respect but eh this is boxing

Could of negotiated for better money. Beating Mitchell means more than ormond. He beats him then what?

None of them will get a shot right now but Burns has looked poor the last couple of times out. He loses to Crawford or Beltran then surely the logical comeback fight would be Crolla/Mathhews?

Top 15 WBO ranking. It would rule out the EBU though because I believe they won't rank anyone who fights for another version of the European title for a year after the fight.

How does it guarantee something in the future if he beats mitchell though? It doesnt. With this new 5 fight deal he's been promised a european title shot if he comes through it.

Strange logic here. He gets the same for Ormond as he would Mitchell so it makes sense. Then he is guaranteed a European title fight at the end. Seems like the better option to me to sign.

Ormond, Gethin and marisili or Mitchell, Rees/Crolla, Burns.
Which group does he get most wins??? I think theres your reason. If hes getting "quoted" similar money for the first group it makes sense to go that route.

What happens if you have contract with a promoter and board for a fight on a certain date then one fighter leaves his promoter for a new one who then announces your fight 3 week earlier without even asking you to do it ?
