If Mike's game stays tight and he boxes, he'll win this, but if he gets tagged, hurt, and starts brawling...then it's bombs away and the Russian looks a slight favorite.

But Bradley made a massive mistake in trading with Prov, and we saw how he'd learned from that last weekend - you'd assume Mike will have learned from that too.

Provodnikov SD this fight cant be anything other than an absolute barnstormer

Fancy provodnikov for the stoppage. Alvarado will outbox him early on but it will become a tear up eventually and the Russian looks hard to beat in that type of a fight.

Will the altitude affect Ruslan though? Alvarado is a Denver native and so will be well adjusted to less oxygen.

Had £20 on the provodkinov stoppage, only £35 profit but makes a great fight greater !

I agree with that. He caught Provodkinov FLUSH a number of times, and he carried on walking. If Alvarado's trainer thinks the key was mixing it with Provodkinov more then I feel he is mistaken.

Exactly, after trading toe2toe in Rios 1 and coming off worse it was box and move that helped him win the 2nd fight fairly handily in the end. His trainer is trying lay the blame in the way he fought but there was nothing else he could have done.

If he was concentrating on his boxing & movement he wouldn't need to be being concerned with what effect his Sunday punches are having.

You have to look at who he's "outboxing" and then contrast it - For example, he had life and death with Prescott, but if you compare say, the way Mitchell boxed him it's just light years away in comparison. The same with McCloskey.

The same way Alvarado barely squeaked past Rios, Abril showed how you actually outbox him. Rios has to be one of the most overrated, overhyped fighters of recent years. He's a tough SOB but he is there to be outboxed and he hangs his chin on a plate. He's all offence and now he's no longer got a huge weight advantage come fight night, he's starting to pay the price and he will end up cabbaged in 2-3 fights because he has so little head movement and he just takes punches to give some back. Exciting to watch, not conducive to a healthy life.

Taking nothing away from Alvarado, I've been a fan since he nailed Clottey with that huge punch late on but boxing is not his strength, that's my main point. He is the sort of person you don't want to be facing in the opposite corner.

Respect to Provodnikov, I thought Alvarado would stop HIM. Although the weight drained pic was a concern.

Couldn't agree more about Rios. He's made for Pacquiao and he is going to take a serious beating in that one. I don't like him at all as a character but don't like to see anybody risk their health the way he does with his straight ahead, defend with his face approach.

always felt provodnikov would hammer Alvarado. didn't think mike could match him inside. didn't like the way he boxed v rios 2nd fight - all that stance changing and poor balance was going to be disastrous vs provodnikov, with his composure, his straight, short punches, his deft timing of shots, his constant forward momentum. Alvarado's shiftiness vs provodnikov's consistency - kind of reminded me of andy morris getting ground down the steadier but more consistent crolla.

glad to see the Siberian get the stoppage vs a very tough guy.
