I think that was more down to Joe's personal preference, he didn't want to be shown what punches to throw or any major technical advice, he could work that out for himself, what he wanted was motivation and a kick up the arse when required. He obviously knows what he's doing, at one point, training in a large shed in the valleys, he had an undisputed world champion who was top 3 P4P, two world champions, a Commonwealth champion and a WBU champion.

Enzo's record clearly speaks for itself, don't really see how any sensible poster can disagree

Exactly I can remember reading an interview and Enzo had incorporated some of his musical theory/knowledge into training; he said he found it easy because he knew about chord structure etc and so taught Joe from an early age to be able to throw punches that were not necessarily in a classic combination and to mix up hard punches with softer punches, other boxing trainers that were textbook one, two were far behind. He was very effective, and on on another thing, Joe had tons of power as an amateur and as a young pro; his hands became too wrecked to really go full power later on, (Tommy Loughran had a similar problem, he had a good right hand but could only throw it full force once a bout as it would break his hand).

Can't argue at all with what he achieved, yes Joe had good natural talent, but if Enzo was a clueless trainer he wouldn't have gone as far as he did. It's offensive to suggest that Joe just got there off his own steam and would have stayed unbeaten his whole career no matter who trained him!

IMO the trainer is only as good as the boxer and joe was exceptional
