From a marketing point of view he was more articulate (until his speech became impaired) , had more star quality and was more likeable than Lewis.

For me, Bowe was quite some way better.

Lewis would not have beaten a peak Evander Holyfield IMO. The Real Deal was too quick, too tough and too skillful.

Lennox has been the most dominant heavyweight of his era though.

thats the problem he faced all his major name opponnents namely tyson and holyfield when they were past their best, even I as an avid Lewis fan can admit this, whether he would have beaten them well its that argument again, entertaining but impossible to prove all we can go on is what happened, cheers though chaps nice chat so far!!!

Bowe had all the components to be great heavyweight, except for two things.

1 He was a lazy fat bastard who refused to live right, he balooned in weight constantly, and as a consequence wasn't as physically well conditioned as he should have been. This shortened his career

2 Will. He refused to face Lewis point blank, and so has nobody but himself to blame when he is remembered as a minor footnote in boxing history, rather than the great he could have been. Had he stayed in proper shape, and perhaps if the fan man hadn't come in the ring, he wouldn't have lost the rematch to Holy.

I think the Bowe who beat Holyfield would have beaten the late career Lewis, but the early career Lewis would have been too quick and too ferocious and would have whacked Bowe out, and this is why Bowe bricked his panties when it was suggested he fight Lewis, he remembered that lithe powepuncher who whupped his arse at the olympics.

Holyfield for what it's worth would have outworked Lewis had they fought a couple of years ealier, but again, Lewis cannot be blamed for that fight now happening. Lewis wasn't allowed a title shot at Holyfield when he was with King, and it wasn't until much later the fight could be made.
