He did have an interesting career. He certainly was thrown to the wolves as a middleweight. Interesting that he didn't stay at lightheavyweight for long. His career did seem to flourish with Dundee. Also interesting that he although he wasn't known as as a bug puncher, he did deck and hurt Bonavena who had a good chin. He also scored several first round knockouts.

I also always thought it was neat that he won his last fight. So many good fighters don't. After to losing the 2nd time to Frazier, he fought one more time. He beat a journeyman to go out a winner.

That's a tough one to call, I'd probably have to favor Foster as Ellis didn't come into his best form until he was a Heavyweight, but it's an interesting matchup all the same.

Jimmy hadn't had a bout in 5-Months {since September 1963}.

Not every boxer had the 'backing, support and management' as Cassius Clay....

Maybe that's because every boxer doesn't coming home carrying Olympic Gold, Il Manichino.

Ellis was a heavyweight by '67.

I'd take him over Foster.
