This. I just don't see khan being able to go 12 with Brook.

Khan's a far better fighter and has fought at a much higher level but I agree with those who think he may get clipped around the mid-to-late rounds after outboxing Brook for much of the fight..

He's the Enzo Mac of the lighter weights. You watch him through the gaps in your fingers while waiting for a knockout from less skilled opposition.

Ive never considered Khan a particularily skilled boxer myself. He's always been tremendously quick and a big volume puncher but defensively he's always been wide open to me. I dont think he's got an overly good boxing brain in all honesty. I actually think that Brook's a far better thinker in the ring even if he doesnt possess quite the speed Khan does. I think he hits harder aswell. Anyone else think the same or just me?

I agree his tactics can be strange and he walks onto stuff when flurrying but his footspeed and distance boxing might keep him away from brook similar to his fight with Maidana. Khans fought at a much higher level. His punch resistance is a big factor but Brook was very very repetitive in his punching and he had to set a good while before letting his hands go. Brook has fast hands but is predictable, i hope he gets better but he was getting feinted by Senchenko so maybe Khan can do the same. I was impressed that he eventually crushed Senchenko pretty early in the fight.

Good post. At the elite level i think Brook will struggle to get his right hand off. Its the punch that wins all his fights, i dont see much else in his arsenal, take it away from him and he will be pretty limited at the top level IMO.

I think beating senchenko in 4 rounds was a big statement. Senchenko isnt elite but he's the gatekeeper to the world class fights wiping him out like that signals his arrival on the world scene, he has a style which it crowd pleasing as well.

His career is languishing. He needs to fight somebody in the top 10 immediately. The Senchenko fight was a farce.

1) His career is at last starting to get some momentum, it's needed to get going for a while but now it is.

2) He did well v Senchenko who is a tough and skilled boxer, well rated; credit where it's due, Brook did well and he can build on this win.

How many times has Brook "arrived on the world scene"

He's treading water. He has for years, which when you consider how big he talks is frustrating for the neutral.

Thought it was Mencap Mickey? Probably right, though you could put anything so long as it ends Brook stops him.

Sorry, but that is a really offensive comment ............... you spazz

How many times did the Alexander fight get derailed--like five times?
And now all of the sudden he's perfectly healthy to take on Senchenko...who got stopped by Malignaggi?

Look, I 'like' Brook. I think he's talented, and I've stood behind him. But the b.s. surrounding the Alexander fight and then taking on Senchenko was too much for me to stomach. I'm starting to question his desire to fight first rate opposition.

I'm agnostic about Brook; he does lots of things well and I'm not sure if he does anything well enough to become world champ; he has dealt with some decent boxers well and I agree that the hype that has been out of Sheffield for so long has seemed hollow. I don't imagine that Brook is afraid of any of the welter champions, I have imagined he struggled with the weight but he made it well last week. I think him v Devon would be good but would like to see how he boxes away from home with things against him first; I don't think he deserves a big bout with Khan as Amir has proven himself (and come up short) at top level while Brook has not arrived there yet. At least he is boxing and not injured.

The Insider wrote:I'd still just take Khan over Brook at the moment. Kell performed well, his jab wobbled Shen a few times and there is no doubt he carries power but I think Khan would be to quick and fit. Shenchnko broke through and he isn't the quickest so there is no doubt Amir would get to him. It would just be a question if Khan could avoid the the big punches or make Kell wary enough not to commit too much. Would be a great fight IMO.
Agree, very good performance for brook, but styles make fights, brook is better against European style opponents and Khan is very fast and can box, Khan can punch a bit too, he won't stand with Brook, he will move around and throw fast flurries, would be an interesting fight though.

It fell through 3 times 2 of which were Kell being injured (fractured metatarsal). Like any injury once healed you come back!! He did against Jones then had the Senchenko fight as a step up before his next shot in 2014. Alexander moved on fought Purdy and now is fighting Porter as the Khan fight did not progress. Think he will look for Mayweather or Bradley after he beats Porter.

I think Kell will be fighting for the vacant IBF title against Bizier.

I agree that Kell really needs a big fight now against someone that is genuine world class. He needs that career defining fight so we can see once and for all what he is capable of. I think he has the potential to do well but the time for discussing his potential or, in some cases writing off his chances of ever being above Euro level, has long passed. We need to see that career defining fight.

I'm not prepared to write him off, as a few on here have, until this happens. I remember feeling the exact same way about one Ricky Hatton years ago. I was always a fan of Ricky and thought he could go far, but it seemed to take forever to for his career to get going. Remember Ricky was approaching 27 years old and at 38-0 when going into the Kostya Tszyu fight! That was the fight that really defined Ricky as world class. After beating Thaxton in 00 and proving he was domestic and european level, we had 5 years of the dreaded WBU reign, which aside from a few domestic dust ups was essentially a conveyer belt of mediocrity.
We were constantly promised Ricky would be stepping it up and mixing with the likes of Tsyzu, but then he would announce another WBU defence against someone like Michael Stewart or Aldo Rios.
This is the level Brook seems to be at now, treading water against the Stewarts of the world. Fringe level, gatekeeper fighters. When Ricky finally stepped up and did the demolition job on Tsyzu, he never looked back and it was only the elite level that he lost to during his prime years. I believe Kell has the potential to reach a similar level but if he doesn't step up soon I fear he'll fall into the bracket of "what could have been."

Why would he fight for the vacant title? If Alexander agrees a unification with Mayweather or Bradley, he's going to have to sit around because unification takes preference over a mandatory.

Kell brook would not beat khan, he has a chance but khan would be the favourite. I don't see brook as an elite fighter ! People keep going on about beating senchenko who is 36 & I'd never heard of him until malinaggi defeated him, I don't think he ever fought outside if donatsk in Ukraine & who he won & defended the WBA against I have no clue about & thry look poor on paper also.
Jonny nelson mentions mental strength & psychological theories often around brook & with him being close to that camp I wonder if there are issues , I think there is & the big occasions I think better him

What?

a guy who is just short of world level should not get a shot at someone who has proven himself to be just short of world level?

really?

Yeah exactly - so when Mayweather beats Alexander you reckon he would keep hold of the IBF strap to fight Kell as a mandatory? Would not make business sense to Mayweather for that right now.
