He froze to an extent but I would recommend he leaves it at that. Browne will be cannon fodder for Price if the big scouser has anything left.

some people can do it but have the comfort of not having to fight for a living, then you get guys with 25% (and less) of that ability for who it becomes a very real career. Unfortunately it's not all Rocky Balboa. You might get the kudos of being "the boxer" but when you've got stiff legs and get chinned and look sh*t on TV and have to go out the next day....not to mention risk injury. It can't be nice.
I haven't seen it and I certainly respect the balls of anyone that gets in the ring, but he doesn't sound like a natural. It must be very, very hard to swallow reading comments about yourself such as on here.
Well said mate respect Is due to anybody who gets in the ring richard is one of boxings success stories the game has turned a wild street fighter into a man who has turned his life round and good luck and well done to him
I've boxed myself and respect any man who gets in there but we're here to discuss boxing and you have to call it as you see it. It just amazes me that after all the top class sparring, Towers looked that poor. I wish him all the best for the future.

You haven't watched many of Audley's "contests" then?

Very true

Im from Sheffield and remember the day after Towers won the EU belt i think it was, i saw him walking round our local asda with the belt. At first i thought this a bit cringeworthy but i stopped him and had a word and quickly realised that far from being flash or wanting to be the centre of attention he was just immensely proud of having won a (even minor) title.I get the feeling that boxing has given him a great sense of purpose after he got out. To be honest having boxed myself and failing to win even an area title i used to hate it when ppl like Honeyghan and Bowe used to drop their belts in a dustbin etc. I know as well as anyone that this is a boxing forum and you get judged on peformance and results and Towers was awful last night and fortunate in previous fights but i for one wish him all the best and i hope he can rebuild at some sort of level and continue to turn his life round...oh and if i see you in asda today reguardless of last night Richard, i WILL stop you and have a word

Richard Towers is an inspiration to many, it's remarkable what he has done. He didn't get a slap on the wrist or a poxy six months. To go from where he as to live on Sky is an incredible achievement.

Where does he go now towers, he's spent a lot of time in & around gyms & still appears painfully roar. Some just never pick up the sweet science. It's like dancing some people just have two left feet & there ain't much you can do with them .
Maybe towers needs area level fights & get busy there before he takes on international level fighters like Browne

Do you think he'd win any of them? Browne looked at the level of John McDermott. Stocky, out of shape, big right hand, determined and pretty one dimensional. I think someone else suggested Towers-Dallas. That could be winnable. The pair of them would look like they're on ice skates but would definitely be entertaining.
Perhaps a prize fighter beckons.

i was disappointed with big richie, i was equally disappointed with browne, he had no jab no nothing but a right hook...which i admit on the night was enough.

I was just about to post this. Browne was horrible. You could really tell these 2 were late comers to the sport last night. Browne just leans with his left arm and swings wildly with his right.
Hatton didn't sound too keen on the Price fight when asked about it. If he does fight Price though it 100% won't go past the 1st round. 90% chance of a 1st round KO for Price and a 10% chance for a lucky wild right hook 1st round KO for Browne.

I dont want to turn this into a debate about a crime but I find it slightly odd how Adonis Stevenson get's absolutely slated on here for in some eyes "being the scum of the earth" for past crimes committed but yet you dont see that with Towers. Wasnt tower inside longer than Stevenson was and if memory serves me correct wasnt it a pretty serious crime with some kind of torture involved?

I think its the whole underage girls aspect that riles people about Stevenson i think, for me it is anyhow,i admire anyone who turns their life around but some stuff(paedos, rapists and OAP bashing etc) just wont get my respect ever, its unforgivable
In saying that i dont claim to know a great deal about Adonis,s case other than the pimping out underagers

"We had this known drug dealer kidnapped and tortured. He was taken somewhere and he was done with steam irons and other such things. We demanded a ransom for him but we let him go after three days."
Taken from an interview I did with him....
Richard was a great fella when I spoke to him...really has turned his life around, no matter what happens in his career

Apparantly according to an interview I saw with a friend of his, he was never a pimp. He was involved with a gang and he was bodyguard apparantly because of boxing skills and what have you but the police pinned all the case on him rather than all the other people involved aswell as him. I dont know obviously. He's married now though with two daughters i think. That was when he was 19 or something and he's 35/36 now so I think it's a little unfair as it was a long time ago.

I agree, Towers does like a genuinely nice fella. It was more the double standard of it that I took issue with vs Tower's himself. I dont know who the drug dealer was but im surprised that Tower's has never had any comeback from the guy involved? I wonder if he has.

He never did any torturing, he was done for the conspiracy. Guess that may have been a factor on there not being a war

Towers seems to get a hell of a lot of credit for having done something appalling and then going on to become a mediocre boxer who no longer commits crimes. If something awful had happened to him and he'd gone on to turn his life around, I could understand all the praise. But given what he did, I find it odd. Better not to say anything really, let the guy get on with his career and hope he doesn't do anything like that again.
