Eddy loves the limelight, loves the sport & you can see he really enjoy what he does.
But one of Warrens lads has lost weight and slimmed down though, making an effort to compete visually, but does still need more personality, the younger one seems out of his dept and just tags along.

He has a lot of young talent on his roster that he is building up, doesn't happen overnight. But you can clearly see he is building young fighters at the minute.
I'd see you having more of a point if he was strictly poaching and not building young boxers, but that isn't the case.

Kell was a star already, maybe not a big ticket seller, but the fighter everyone was taking about, Brian Rose is still not a big name, though Matchroom have got him great opportunities, as they have with Purdy.

He might've been born with a silver spoon and been given a great opportunity but none can doubt his enthusiasm for the sport and how hard he works now. He's doing a great job imo.

I watched George *the younger one* do an interview with Ifilm the other day and it comes across as a nice fella actually! He seemed to know what he was talking about aswell.

This might sound creepy...
But has anyone ever seen Eddie and Francis in the room together at the same time ?

The you think " the younger one " could run Warren promotions on his own, the same sort of job eddie does ? doubt it, nice guy or no nice guy.

With all due respect I very much doubt Eddie does it all on his own ie he has a good team around him and secondly George doesnt have the platform that Eddie does when it comes to tv dates and fighters, etc. That's not hating on Eddie either because they got the gig with sky but it makes things easier. Finally. George and Francis created their own promotional company. They're not managing their dads.

I really liked Eddie initially and thought he was a shot in the arm for boxing in how he claimed to be a fan wanting fan friendly fights, but gradually he has become more and more smug. This has been particularly noticeable in interviews. I think the real Eddie is beginning to shine through. His fighters seem to like him though and I haven't heard anything about any issues with pay.
It will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next few years. I have felt all along that their plan was to start off by creating as much goodwill as possible, get fans, fighters, and Sky on board, build up a monopoly using low margins, and then start turning the screw. I imagine they're not far off the "turning the screw" stage now.

Colombo, we all know it's their dad's, it was started when Warren had problems and you know what I mean regarding Eddie, he is the man at the helm and what better platform then your own Tv channel, allegedly, I am sure they could have more tv dates then Eddie if they wanted, I think they have been given a great platform, plus they have big money behind them, their dad is no fool. Johnswan1, I have to say you have a good point there, time will tell, still think Warren will claw his way back to the top, he is a born survivor.

To me (a Norherner) he does sound posh (and seems smug), doesn't sound like a proper cockney like Del Boy or someone does he...
Anyways, whether or not he has had silver spoon or not that doesn't really affect whether he is a good promoter or not. In my opinion he is o.k, but as Im sure many others agree, he over hypes his fighters and a lot of his cards you can predict the winners pretty easily, but that's boxing for you.
I also think FW gets a harder time than he deserves.

If I was an employer I'd pick eddy over both franks sons together.
Eddy himself is an attraction he has great sales techniques. Franks boys may have great qualities behind the scenes in terms of academics & drawing up contracts etc but they are not great talkers & can't imo sell .as a fan I'll watch eddy getting interviewed & he just don't answer the questions he creates intrest & grips your attention abit similar to Dana white they come across as the biggest most excited fan & want to deliver the best nights out

agree 100%, Dana White has so much passion for fighting, Eddie is a born salesman that wants to be the best in his field, Warren sons lack charisma.

Dana White is a lot more straight talking. He will literally tell fans to put up and shut up, often when deserved. Eddie Hearn is more of a charmer. Both are very good at what they do. Some people really confuse me when they hate on Eddie Hearn. I'm not his biggest fan but he's put on some great shows for British boxing, seems to genuinely care especially regards Froch/Barker/Brook and holds enjoyable Q&A's/interviews keeping us up to date on his shows/fighters. Why moan?

Fair enough he has made Kell Brook more of a name within the casual fans demographic - but career wise Kell has hardly really progressed at a pace in the past 2 years - in fact I'd argue he's barely progressed.
He's poaching the young fighters though too - he is the only promoter that has basically huge resources (through daddy and sky) to coax these big prospects over to himself.
Eddie Hearn is great at the TV/Media publicity side of things I won't deny that - he sells his fighters to the casual fan.
Personally though I don't think he cares for the hardcore boxing fan. He's good at earning fighters money but not making champions in my opinion.
Frank W used to get slated for that in the past.

He's had a lot of sensible and valuable business values instilled in him by his father and he's taken these and given them a fresh outlook.
He is the ultimate salesman too, switched on but a little predictable and perhaps a bit to matey with fighters and surprisingly fans.
Doing a good job, is paying fighters on time, what he says he will and giving them all the opportunities he promises. If you were looking at it in Black and White he's not doing much wrong.

Eddie's matchmaking team match their prospects significantly harder than W@rren now and when he was the top guy on SKY.
Maybe that's because of SKY, maybe its because of Eddie, maybe it a bit of both...Good job though, so far in my opinion.

I dunno. Degale fought for the british title in his 9th fight if memory serves me correct and on the british level BJS has been in some pretty tough tests.

The problem with a certain promoter was that they were milking a fighter in WBU/WBO defences for many years before stepping them up and we saw so many poor fights because of that . The game has changed and fans are more knowledgeable now thankfully. Hearn is signing up the best fighters that turn pro and is building a great stable for the future I don't know how any one could call that poaching when he offers a novice a good deal and they take it.That just makes him the most powerful promoter at the moment like a certain promoter used to be.

I agree with this. People don't like to actually look at the facts sometimes. They just predict that he is properly bent deep down like the rest of them - which may be the case, but I like people to actually make their mistakes before I accuse them of stuff. I understand it is once bitten twice shy in regards to the boxing promoters, but I try and be a bit less cynical than most.
