Too many of you guys are taking Duce seriously on this.

Coopman took a lot out of Ali? The Belgium waffle was one of Ali's easiest title fights of the 60s or 70s. Stories abound that the Lion of Flanders was actually drinking between rounds just to give him courage to go out for the next stanza. Most regarded the bout as nothing more than a soft gym workout for Ali. A "neat and tidy exhibition of boxing" was how it was described by pundits.

You actually think that Il Duce seriously believes this bout took a toll on Ali??? He's just being facetious and you're falling for it.

I thought the latter for a while but now favour the former as he invests way too much time in it for it to be simply a wind-up.

Plus he's been doing it for years before he even appeared here. So, if it is some kind of elaborate 'joke', he's taking a long time to deliver the punch line.

If it does turn out to be a wind-up then maybe Andy never really had terminal cancer after all.

From what I remember it was very one sided beating, I imagine the only thing it done to Ali was to hurt his left hand from the number of punches he hit Coopman with.

BoxRec has provided Il Duce a safe environment to work through his emotional issues. Look at it as a public service.

As to the criticism that any decent heavyweight would have KO'd Coopman in 2 rounds---I think it was apparent watching the bout that Ali was merely going thru the motions in one of his softest title defenses. If he had opened up, he could have stopped the challenger whenever he chose.
Ali later said that he promised CBS that he would allow Coopman to last a few rounds so the network could get some commercials in. I believe it.
The "fight" was a walkover.

Yes, this should not even be a question or a topic, Coopmans, would make Jody Ballard look like Muhammad Ali, he would have had hell beating anyone in the top 200, Ali was taking a day off plain and simple, after a 32-5 record vs major contenders and champs, he kinda deserved one but not the lion of flounders!

they had an ice pack on the back of Muhammad Ali's head
because it was so swollen from all those rabbit punches of Wepner's.
That fight and the third fight with Ken Norton
were really damanging imop
as well as the fight with Eearnie Shavers.
Dr. Ferdie Panchecko quit the team after the Shavers fight.
