More than just 'fighting in the ring', as that takes courage, but not necessarily brains.
Not to say that intelligent men have not stepped into the Ring, as many were sharp minded.
But, does anyone come to mind as a 'coward', or behaved in a 'cowardly manner'.
A person who lacks courage when facing danger or difficulty, not neccessarly in the Boxing Ring,
but being fearful and/or acting cowardly because of avoiding a commitment, duty or honor.
A person who would show mental weakness, as being ineffectual 'milksop'.
I personally view a coward in a sport as being some one who continues to
fowl and break the rules while knowingly doing so while intentionally harming
their opponent outside the rules in place agreed upon by all parties,
To me this is cowardice.
Then again I view John L Sullivan rocking up to a fight drunk and then
not fighting as being both cowardly and arrogantly disrespectful.
