I agree in the sense that an iron chin is not something to rely on, ask JT as he can barely speak these days.

That's really not true. Benn avoided all the best middles and SMs of his era, Jones, Toney, McCallum. Who has Froch failed to face? I'm a massive Benn fan, and he was as much of a warrior in the ring, but he hasn't shown the ambition for war that Froch has.

Special thanks to the Op and all who agreed for restoring my faith in this forum. Also a mention to Groove Armada for providing the comedic value.

Not fighting and avoiding are different things.

Plus, the Super 6 are crap compared to Jones,Toney,Mccallum.

You think Froch would win 2 rounds against those guys?
Jones would have befuddled him. Toney and McCallum would have been good exciting fights, but he would have lost. Andre Ward would be competitive against any of them, and Froch didn't shy away from fighting him.

SNG wrote: The ringside interview did him no favours. That was probably the biggest fight of his career in regards to a UK audience and that's the impression a lot will be left with. He'll never earn the kind of money a fighter like him deserves no matter what Matchroom do, it may be the wrong impression but he just comes across as an extraordinarily arrogant bloke with an extremely large chip on his shoulder.
The chip on the shoulder thing combined with the shit stoppage was bond to backfire on Froch. He's always come across as an arrogant cry baby outside of the ring but shut most people up with his extremely impressive run of fights in recent years. The moment there's an in to take him down a peg or two, the British public will take it.

But he should retire if no rematch, he took a hellish amount of full shots on Saturday.

There will be £Millions in the rematch, but he may well retire before George retires him.
No, the difference between you and I, you prick, is that I've been posting on here for years and have not really had many arguments along the way, as opposed to a simpleton with more than 500 posts of mostly trolling inside one month. Get a life.
refreshing to readand i agree. sadly, most debates come down to the simple analogy of ' ihate froch ' or ' i like froch' . makes me smile, all these supposed independents lol, who are clearly nothing of the kind
too many pricks on this page, nice to see a genuine poster

To be fair Groove Armada as also been posting for many years under a Different Generic name....

His posts don't really bother me to be honest; I find them pretty funny with an element of truth!

Trolls are only trolls if you let them wind you up. :TU:

[quote="johnswan1"]I'm serious. He has given more to the sport than what us as fans can ask for.

I've counted up the number of consecutive Froch fights I've watched either live or on delay without knowing the results. It currently stands at 20, beginning with the Henry Porras fight, and included trips to the York Hall for his bouts against Westerman and Magee. That's more than any fighter I've followed consecutively from the past, present, and probably future.

I'm too old for heroes, but nobody likes to see one of their favoured fighters getting hurt. That's exactly what happened on Saturday night. At times it was uncomfortable to watch. Froch took more punishment in those fights than he did in any of the others and probably in many of them combined. Even afterwards his face was a mess and he was clearly not all there given he had to be reminded of having been heavily dropped in the first round.

The fact that Froch came back from that beating to turn the tide once again and take control against Groves further cements his legacy and famous iron will and iron chin that will immortalise him in British boxing history. Unfortunately the referee robbed him of the finish most of us thought was inevitable, and Groves escaped with the moral victory. Yes Groves had dominated most of the fight. Yes Froch was on the receiving end of the bigger shots and had taken more sustained punishment. But should his name really have been booed after the fight for what was one of the greatest comebacks ever witnessed in a British ring at such a high level?

As far as I'm concerned Froch has nothing to prove. Saturday night was a typical come from behind Froch trademark effort, yet the fans at the arena appear to have misunderstood and were left unappreciative of it.

The calls for the rematch "to prove he is a real warrior" are ridiculous. I genuinely feel a second fight would more than likely go the same way. Froch would have the W on his record, but would also be the loser in that he would take the most damage again, probably taking years off his life in the process and raising a considerable risk of future health problems. I don't want to see that. He has given enough.

Instead, we should be calling for retirement, or a farewell fight with limited health risks, such as one against Hopkins. Although a win wouldn't add a huge amount to his legacy, a stoppage might, and it would give us a chance to say a proper farewell to a legend of the sport and cheer for him as the good guy, rather than push him in as the enemy in a return bout against Groves. Time to put less emphasis on the personality and more on what he has done in and for the sport. Great post from a real fight fan, made me change my mind on a few points.
