Well, these are some of the gems I've heard- that Herbie Hide will be a target in the nick; one idiot even posted that Fury's dad will have to watch himself in prison as there are so many much harder men! I think it depends on the category of the prison though mate aswell to be fair.

That's a good point, but as I understand the Cat A prisons are not for fly by night criminals like Hide.

And there is an average of 1, yes 1 homicide a year in UK nicks http://www.inquest.org.uk/statistics/deaths-in-prison

The higher the cat the less aggro, most with long sentences want to get their heads down; the trouble is with debt or issues from outside. YOI is different, lots of young men without a thought in their heads wanting (needing) to get a decent place in the pecking order.

Well, I don't consider being considered a 'bad man', being a street criminal and spending lots of time in prison to be particularly impressive or aspirational... But what I do know is that Herbie Hide and Peter Fury will have absolutely no problems in prison....

Its a shame that Steve O'Meara has chosen to go down this road of getting involved with drugs & on such a large scale The police that deal with this crime are top notch & are well informed so the odds of getting away with it were quite slim. I understand that he is taking it rather bad but prison isn't supposed to be easy to take. The earlier post of him if found guilty getting 4_5 years is rather lenient I would expect a much stiffer sentence for 25k of drugs, that's a big bag. I think that he has got himself involved with something that's well over his head, I always found him a nice man, & as I have said its a shame, but he had a choice & his choice turned out to be the wrong one.

I wonder if O Meara gets longer than Watkins?

I'm really gutted for him.

I interviewed him a few times when I was doing the boxing writing and he came across as such a lovely bloke. Always had time to talk, was really friendly - just seemed like a top man.

This is so, so sad.

I was ringside when he KO'd both Nathan Wiese and Ryan Toms, two beautiful finishes - especially good seeing as Steve was considered a non-puncher before the Toms fights - and even that was thought to be a fluke until he sparked Wiese too.

I feel for him and his family, and hope they can all stay strong through the tough times ahead. He will get out one day, and he will still have a chance at a happy life with people who he loves and who love him back.

Palooka. Trust me. The craziest people I know would not blink twice to slice up anyone. Size reputation is not a consideration. To show you how volatile these guys are. I have known them well for 20 years but they are never welcome in my home. Too nuts!
