Always like hearing Jamie Moore. But if Watt were to go then I would like someone new, I remember Jon Thaxton doing it once and he was really good, strange shout but he did a good job and he is a nice guy.

Also dismissed Geale like Strum just had an off night. Aye.....like he did against Soliman, Murray and Macklin to???

Was making out like Strum had come out like a man possessed. Strum fought the same he always fights for me. Unfortunately Darren's punch resistance seems to have been sapped by the war with Geale.

Then when it's over he gives it "Maybe Darren thought he had to be aggressive in order to win abroad....."

Always was well spoken and quite analytic after his own performances. By all accounts he's quite a nice, down to earth and intelligent guy in real life. Hope he gets the gig full time.

His technical understanding is brilliant.

And he's a nice chap with an optimistic outlook - that's what you want to hear.

Barker just got kod in two horrible rounds.....This has never happened before, Barker clearly fought the wrong fight tactically....surely Watt was proven correct and quickly also.

Part of barker's team said he fought the wrong way...now maybe Watt had knowledge of this beforehand and knew barker wasn't fighting per instructions.

Too suggest barkers punch resistance is disminishing is a bit much....the guy couldn't move. It's a bit like saying Nicky cook's punch resistance has gone for the burns fight. Barker wasn't badly hurt in the second at all IMO....he simply couldn't move.....strum in essence was hitting a heavy bag.

He went down twice from decent but no more shots. I can buy that argument if he was taking shots and got stopped on his feet as he couldn't move but he got decked twice and it was only after the second KD he signaled an issue with the hip and started limping.
Comparing it with the Cook fight is a non starter. Cook was showing distress form the first bell and could hardly stand up. Barker was competitive and was trading until he got decked so the heavy bag comparison I don't get.

Also the tactics were not all wrong. Strum isn't a puncher. He has a high work rate and wins the vast majority of his fights on points. So Barker getting on the back foot and trying to outbox him would be a waste of time. It would be Strum by UD all day long. The only way you win in Germany against a locally based fighter is by outfighting them and getting the benefit of the doubt on the cards or by KO. I think that's been long well established. That aside Watt's general commentary is dreadful as most people seem to have stated. It frustrates me as it does many others and he's getting money for old rope.

I like Darren. Was delighted by his win against Geale. But if your getting taken out by shots like that against a puncher of Strum's level then against big hitters then I fear for Darren and hope he doesn't throw the dice again.

Barker was complaining about his injury to his corner at the end of the first round.

For me, and I don't want to Sturm a disservice, the shots that "wobbled" Barker only did so cause Barker couldn't move properly....weren't wobbles as such just you would be walking funny if you've dislocated your hip. The man was on the floor after the second kd pointing and telling his corner his hip has gone. Not the signs of a person who is so distressed by the punches he doesn't know what planet he is on.

Maybe punch bag wasn't an accurate analogy....but the man couldn't move properly...he was a far easier target to Sturm than strum was too him.

Think David haye, sam soliman and Daniel Geale (vs sylvester) showed you can win big fights on back foot in Getmany.

Re Watt it's getting to a stage were I am anticipated a slag him off thread before the fight starts....now he is getting slagged off for criticising a fighter who lost in 2 rounds and praising a fighter for his first stoppage win in a million years.

Not sure he's given a fair crack with some posters these days.....

Re the thread though....if sky did decide to drop Watt....hope they don't......they could do a lot worse than poach Barry Jones from allegedly. Don't agree with his cards sometimes though.
