Must agree with you on this. Lets see if he can get Andrade over for Rose or Shawn Porter over for Kell Brook .
I also wonder if Eddie can bring Kiko Martinez over for a
unification

with Scott Quigg next year.

I hate doing this ... but completely agree with this.
Matchroom are doing well and I think Eddie Hearn is a bloody good promoter.
I wish there wasnt a monopoly and there were a few dates free for the smaller promoters to scrap over - it would bring some competition to Matchroom.
But yes .. I feel Matchroom and Sky have definitely delivered.

It took you a while, but im glad you are finally seeing sense.
There was really no reason for Bellew to fly Canada for not very much money to get beat up by Adonis.
He could have made more money fighting at home against a British rival in front of a bigger crowd.

I think Eddie Hearn' Matchroom and SKY are doing a great job. I look forward to my boxing on a Saturday now.

Well after this Saturday your going to have a long wait. The next scheduled show isn't until the 1st of February. 47 days without any boxing :(

Thats true, hopefully Sky will get the Bute Pascal fight before then.I would of preferred a card mid Jan(matchroom has stated the year with Prizefighter before) but hopefuly the 3 cards in Feb will make up for it.

Would be surprised if they picked up Bute-Pascal, there's no chance of a Froch rematch so it doesn't really fit in with them trying to sell a fight with a Matchroom fighter involved.

I think he could get Kiko over, Kiko might not go to Manchester but if he gets Macklin / Lee in Dublin, he could get Kiko to Dublin. He has fought and won in Dublin before and I think Kiko would go to Dublin for the fight.

Macklin-Lee seems set for the US and there is the small matter of Frampton being mandatory, plus it's being taken for granted that Martinez beats Mathebula, who has a huge height advantage on him.

As it stands Frampton isnt mandatory for anything.

Not really that unusual is it? I thought we normally had at least 4 weeks off over Christmas every year. Unless a foreign fight happened to be picked up.

Sure I heard read in the MEN Quigg was going over for the fight. Not only that Hearn mentioned a show at the MEN in April the IFL TV interview after the Barker Sturm Weigh In with Quigg and Crolla. Martinez or Frampton would be the onl ones to fit the bill IMO obviously the later would be muc bigger but it won't happen ( unfortunately).

It's not unusual at all. I'm looking forward to the annual fight of the year show which usual airs between Christmas and New Year. I really miss the knock out of the year show they used to put together too. It was 30 mins of pure KO heaven

Their between fight stuff is basically one long never ending puff piece for Matchroom, it gets a bit boring but you can see why they're doing it. You wonder, at times, who the promoter is.

I know we all want to see big fights but i still miss the friday fight nights in sports centres. The same shows which developed half of the fighters who sky are coining in on now. I enjoyed the british title fights which headlined on smaller hall shows, competitive british title fights. It doesnt all need to be glitz and glam.

matchroom are delivering to the matchroom stable but sky arnt delivering to the fans,if you look at what fights have been on and whats been on allegedly, imo allegedly has delivered better fights and better shows to the fans

It is providing plenty of food thought when you look back at it all when the deal was inked. Matchroom are looking to bring through their own talent which they have signed up in the shape of Luke Campbell, Kal Yafai and Anthony Joshua, who are going to generate plenty of interest as they are all Olympians with Yafai being a Beijing Olympian and Campbell and Joshua being gold medalists at the London Olympics, as well signing the best of who is out there having got Carl Froch from Hennessy Sports and Ricky Burns and Kevin Mitchell from allegedly amongst others. Plus they have delivered the Prizefighter format which all though entertaining you do have have question the amount of mileage that has got left in it.
Away from that they are looking to showcase some of the best of British boxing has to offer etc and I thought the Froch-Groves Pay-Per-View was good value money for what it is. A good showcase for British talent with good wins on the night for Scott Quigg, Stephen Smith and Luke Campbell who will be looking to make a bigger splash in 2014 while Froch and Groves served up an all time British classic with their 9 round war that could lead to a rematch plus Froch as plenty of options. So yes Matchroom and Sky are delivering in my eyes.

I do agree with that. I guess that is the key problem with the Sky deal though, it would be better even if they worked with 2 promoters. Matchroom for the "big" events every fortnight/every 3 weeks or so, and then a smaller promoter to fill in some of the weeks in between with a Friday night purely domestic fights with the occasional British strap up for grabs or even English etc title.

mullenman wrote:i think they are doing well but their stable is taking a bit of battering latley
froch- one fight left in him
Bellew - just got beat but can go well at cruiser and hope he fights the welsh kid
Barker - retired
Groves - not on the books anymore
Frampton - biggest star in the Uk and gone to Allegedly channel
Burns - lucky to be champ and will get beat in his next fight
swings and roundabouts but I like what they are doing
You're right about that crop but they have given us some great moments. And as far as Matchroom's stable. they might go through a period with no true world champs, but I'm confident in the talents of Brook, Quigg then Callum Smith, Kal Yafai, Luke Campbell and Anthony Joshua for the future. Certainly not written in stone but I think they'll do well.

Sky are apparently broadcasting 6 hours from this weekends show - 6-8pm on SS3 and the 8-12am on SS2.
One of the past criticisms of sky output was a lack of undercard broadcasting - this has certainly turned round in the last year. And not a red button in sight.

I really miss the good old days when one of our lads fought a teak tough import in the main event, who strangely flopped in the first few rounds, topping an undercard of latvians being massacred inside of three mins

Accepted, but I doubt the night of tumbling Latvian's will ever be topped. Credit to Maloney for doing his best to put a spin on events but in its own way, that was a night of infamy. If Sky were paying out around a hundred grand for a show like that, I bet they felt absolutely fleeced.

Haha I remember that. That was a truely dire night of boxing.
