Where do you get that information, sounds like cobblers
It is not cobblers.

A few years ago Smith posted details on another forum - he even said how much his annual salary was (I won't repeat this here).

I think that there is no standard form of payment - it depends who the boxer is (eg. well known, Olympic champion who does dancing on ice etc.) might get a signing on bonus, salary plus extra for fights, a decent amateur who for whatever reason can sell a load of tickets (such as Smith and also Kevin Mitchel) who might get a salary or an average amateur who will be given a ticket only deal.

There are also a whole bunch of other options in the middle.

Eg. John Murray had a deal with Hennesey (I think) that gave him a minimum purse - this sounds a good deal, but you have to fight to get the purse !

Hennesey couldn't afford to pay the purse he was contractually entitled for him to fight journeymen and Murray wouldn't box for less, so in the end he had long periods of inactivity.

I think that apart from a small minority, the life of a pro boxer is not as lucrative as the public would think - I am sure that an average non-league footballer (who doesn't have to worry about selling tickets and doesn't pay his trainer or promoter etc.) earns more in a year than the majority of pro boxers in this country.
Without saying what it was, was it much as you would think? I mean from a boxing fans perspective.

He's record is 34- 3

the other guy's record was 10 - 53

Come on mate, it is not as if he has spent the past 10 years fighting journeymen in stacked fights and every time he steps up he gets beat ...... err ..... there again ....

Smith has only won British Title fights against 2 blokes - and both of them were Scousers ! It is more like the Liverpool title than the British !

Over the past decade this boxer more than most typifies what is wrong with boxing in this country.

I don`t see Smith going past British level. He`s solid and likes a ruck, but was well beaten by both Degale and Grovesy.

His brother looks a much better bet.

Smith looked out of shape on Saturday, he's never been a SMW anyway he just chooses to fight at that weight. I'd fancy Fielding against him if they met and they should meet in my view.

I doubt Warren would've been shedding too many tears over him leaving, I don't think he's that well liked in Liverpool either.

Smith seems popular everywhere, except online! He can sell in Liverpool and countless fighters and journalists say what a good bloke he is.

I'm sure I've seen him in even worse shape for non-title fights.

It was a massively pointless match-up on Saturday tbh.

Smith is decent British level and highly unlikely ever to be any better than that. Still a very good achievement though.
