I tried venturing out into the Current Scene part of the forum once but it left me feeling dirtykeithmoonhangover wrote:I hear you Chad, but I come on here to talk about boxing with some of my online chums. It's better to talk about international fights in British and Irish, because my brethren are on here.chad wrote:I can understand what you are saying however looking back through the last 3 weeks on the British & Irish forum there has only been 2 international fights discussed, not featuring a British fighter, being Akira Yaegashi vs Edgar Sosa and last nights Broner Vs. Maidana. I think some members are getting confused about what should be posted where. I'm not suggesting you are, but I think this is what causes people to get upset about seeing spoilers. They visit the British & Irish part of the forum because they don't expect to see the result of an American fight being discussed.ALI wrote:Spoiler alerts spoil the forum, there is no need for them. Anyone trying to avoid a fight result should not be on here!
I've been using this forum for over 10 years, i'm on it every other day. The British & Irish section is for Brits and Irish to congregate and talk about boxing. It may not have been the original intention of the forum creator, but thats how it is and it suits me perfectly. I rarely visit the Current Scene, the level of discussion over there is pretty low and unnapealing to me. If the Brit & Irish forum was to be restricted from talking only about British boxing it would no longer fulfill my needs, i doubt i'd continue to visit this site if that happened.
A little bit of clarity will go a long way here.
I missed the Broner fight last night and I've recorded it to watch later. If I wanted to avoid the result, I wouldn't switch my laptop on.
Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?

Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
Spoiler alerts for when fights are shown on a delayed basis "as live" in the UK (e.g. when Sky used to do the Sunday morning delayed shows, or something you know will be on Eurosport only on a delayed basis).
Fights that are shown live on the Uk I would say they shouldn't be compulsary.

Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
Anyone who doesn't wanna know the result but goes on a forum is an idiot
Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
to me it makes no sense at all to visit a boxing forum if you don't want to know the result ..maybe the people that cry out about spoilers should either watch the fight first on not visit boxrec. i wouldn't watch sky sports news then moan when the say a football result .keithmoonhangover wrote:this.WelshJack wrote:I just don't get why people need to go on a boxing forum when trying to avoid results?
also i sometimes post stuff that could be in current scene in the british and irish section just because sometimes i think brits and yanks see some fighters completely differently and i prefer listening to the british view points because you normaly don't get replies like "he sold 2 billion PPV of course he'll win"
Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
Whether they should or should not be compulsory is besides the point as you are running the risk of finding the result in so many ways, your homepage might be one like yahoo or sky and have the result there, an email might mention it, social media like Facebook may have comments, an unrelated thread on this or another forum may make reference to the result for other reasons.
If you have recorded it and come online you run the risk of finding out so it is a bit rich to then get an arse ache over the lack of spoiler alert. Use some intelligence, if you do not want to know, do not go online.

While I agree with you guys wholeheartedly, how hard is it to put a spoiler free title on a thread? 'Not very' is the answer, in case you were wondering.Datsue wrote:keithmoonhangover wrote:this.WelshJack wrote:I just don't get why people need to go on a boxing forum when trying to avoid results?

Just put 'Spoiler' and have some consideration for your fellow forum members.
Not hard to do.

I watched the Broner fight this morning, so just avoided the internet beforehand. Simple really.

Don't come on a boxing forum if you don't want to know a fight result. Simple as.
Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
Some people may want to talk about something they have seen on a sky show without having seen allegedly yet and others spoil it on here.
How difficult is it to just add the word 'Spoiler' to the subject?

What about if you write "spoiler:Broner gets battered?"Emmseegee wrote:Some people may want to talk about something they have seen on a sky show without having seen Allegedly channel yet and others spoil it on here.

Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
It ain't, but if there's a shock, it normally generates another thread, which you can tell by the title what's happened in the fight. People who don't have BoxNition or SKY, should not have to check the schedule to see if there's delayed coverage of a fight before they post on here. Also, if there's a 4am fight, we should be able to talk about it freely, without waiting for others to catch up.Emmseegee wrote:Some people may want to talk about something they have seen on a sky show without having seen Allegedly channel yet and others spoil it on here.

Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
I think people just sometimes want a typing ruck - im almost convinced of it. Or they just flirt with thinking they may want to know the result. Otherwise, its just simply against common sense.
Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
To be honest ive only been caught out on here a couple of times with spoilers and both times im sure it was because i just pressed the link to boxrec on my phone without thinking and boom..... There it was.
I think 'Spoiler' should be added or conversations should just be kept in the RBR threads. There always ends up being multiple threads discussing the same thing. Froch Groves threads were just ridiculous.

Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
I go on boxing websites to find out results not to avoid them
Re: Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?
That's what seems to be happening here. People are visiting the British & Irish section of the forum to discuss the results of British and & Irish fights. Problem is they then find people are posting threads giving away international results, which should really be in the Current Scene section of the site.Coco wrote:I go on boxing websites to find out results not to avoid them
If your going to post about British fights in Current Scene, add a spoiler tag. If your going to post about international fights in the British and Irish section add a spoiler tag.
Seems the fairest way to me.

It takes seconds to do and shows manners. That said most on here have none so they will never change.

taffytoon. Should people who don't have BoxN@tion, have to check the schedule to see if there's delayed coverage of a fight before they post on here?taffytoon wrote:It takes seconds to do and shows manners. That said most on here have none so they will never change.

No need to get arsey about it. I'm just asking if someone needs to check listing for delayed fights, then post a spoiler?taffytoon wrote:That is not the topic of this threadkeithmoonhangover wrote:taffytoon.
