No. The opposite if anything. Wharton was the exception.

Yeah, the following they do have is usually keen and loud but not great in terms of number.

On the point Hurlock made: there's some truth in what he says about good fighters building support but it's not always the case (at the top of the game, look at Andre Ward). I think it depends on the other people at the events and the style the fighter has. As an example, IMO Hatton owes a heck of a lot to the fans of Arnie Farnell. In the early days, Ricky had a decent core support but it was Arnie's huge following that really got the snowball rolling. They made every show have a great atmosphere and they lent their support to every Manc on the card, the folk watching on TV saw this and wanted a part of it, and the rest is history. Hatton's style and promise made him become the key draw eventually but who knows how things would have gone were it not for the Failsworth mob.

I watched a couple of you tube vids of hike being interviewed etc, he comes across as a proper nice bloke.

He's putting on a show and quality entertains, whether it not you've paid to see that individual or not. Regarding your Hearns etc stepping in, well even Wazza has struggled with that clout.

I think Coldwell has done that many times, at some stage a boxers fan base has to improve to get him to the next level, longer rounds, better opponents means more money for purses and more tickets have to be sold.

Unsatisfactory response from Dave Coldwell in my opinion. Seven fights unbeaten, but only one win against a fighter with a winning record. Dave, how come you couldn't take him any further, he's only just starting out ? You promote Matty Clarkson - what about a fight between him and Burton for the Central Area title ?

Agree at 7-0 why not just pitch in at deep end and see what made of as he does look good whether he sells tickets or not

Because he doesn't want Clarkson to get beat up?

I saw burton fight on a coldwell card at the magna, he had had big hype in terms of his power etc. I was expecting big things but was bitterly disappointed. He had the jab of a blind nurse and the power punches were just not there. Maybe it was a bad night at the office for hosea but i can only comment onwhat ive seen.

Sometimes you can read more into a situation by what isn't said as opposed to what is said.

Why would Burton beat Clarkson up? He's shown no signs of having the power he's claimed to possess and hasn't looked amazing so far.

He would start a heavy favourite and one highlight reel ko is not showing "no signs'.

If Dave Coldwell let him go it means he's not going anywhere, Dave knows enough to know who's gonna make it and who's not

I liked the look of Burton. He did a right number on Smyle last time I saw him live.

Last time he was out Burton put on by far the most impressive performance on the card. So it's either tickets or something's happened out of the ring. There's no way you could bin him on lack of boxing potential after his last fight.

Travellers don't normally get to see there family fight nor are they allowed as only neutrals officiate there bouts because family's just end up tearing into eachother & the fight would never take place. I think the whole family put up the prize money inall don't they???

I love that phrase. You could say that in about 95% of situations and even if you have nothing to contribute, you come across as being clever and on the inside
