The last time I spoke to him I told him to f*ck off and shut the gym door ... GG has no interest in me whatsoever, he is much more interested in making himself a **** on a far grander stage!!
it sounds like a bit of sexual tension in the air ....what did sugar ray leonard say happened to him by a trainer/second ...am i on the right lines :) :)

Happy new year to you as well fella. I did indeed watch the fireworks - though in true Dubai style the main ones went off nearly half an hour late! :TU:

Because he got jobbed! He clearly had Froch's number and would be a strong favourite to do him in a rematch if it ever comes off.
Current odds are Froch 1-2 and Groves 2-1 so hardly a strong favourite.

Indeed, very definitely not a 'strong favourite'.

In fact not a favourite at all.

The underdog once again :TU:

Spud, what happened between you and Groves when he left?

I rate George highly and said long before the Froch fight he was the next best thing on these shores. I still stand by that. You obviously know him well so keen to hear your take on him and why the tension?

I was hoping to find out what happened in the build up to Spud saying those kind departing words to George......

My made up account of how things went goes 'Adam Booth told George that he couldn't go into the fight trying to knock out Carl Froch in round 1 and George said why not I can knock any fecker out at SMW and Adam said you fight my way or you can find another trainer and George went ok I will.
Then Spud told him to F-off elsewhere and slammed the door in his face an George almost knocked Carl out in the first round like he said he would.

I hope Groves has a really good 2014 and to be honest I don't think there'll be a right lot that can come out that will spoil peoples view of him, Spud has alluded to some things coming out etc but if you're a genuine person then you can't get along with everyone and you can't please everyone; Groves can't be that bad, if someone told me to fornicate off and slammed a door behind me I'd have crapped in a bag and put it on their doorstep.

Not a lot ... George took the p*ss/mocked me in what I considered a particularly nasty way ... I told him to **** off ... I was totally delighted Groves did not pursue the matter :box:

As for what George is like ... they are my thoughts only ... I truly think he is a ****.

I have a feeling that George can be quite nasty like you say. In the build up to the Degale fight I thought George was a nice guy and Degale obviously was a pudendum. Im starting to see it the other way round now. The difference is that Groves's is smarter than Degale is and is subtler with it.

I have to be fair here ... George was about to go into a fight with Carl Froch which was a high profile PPV fight and it was about to be announced he was splitting with his trainer Adam Booth ... naturally that was a lot to worry about ... but I felt George's attitude and mood purely in my opinion gave me little option but to take sides where there were others who remained neutral ... the situation is very common in life. There has rarely been "grey" areas in my life ... the majority is very black & white ... I am sure I would be a better person if there was those grey areas!! ;;-)

I can understand where you are coming from and it has to be said that there are very few boxers who would have the guts and the self confidence to go through with the bout in the circumstances; Groves must be a very single minded and determined man to do that and it maybe that his manners slid with everything else going on. I can't think of any other active British boxer (including Froch) who would consider such a high profile make or break fight under the same. Groves was lucky that the loss to Froch hasn't broken him, it was a massive gamble.

Thats a good post :TU:

But the problem is George thinks he understands how boxing works ... he doesnt and not many others do either, including me!! ...

For me and I have said it many times Adam Booth is a massive asset to have on your side both from a manager and trainer perspective, yes to some he can come accross as an arrogant ****, I was very fortunate that after nearly 14 years knowing Adam I got to see the side of him which told me he is a QUALITY person to have heading your team.

Groves is clearly a mentally very strong character! No denying that. I think that's one of his best assets. Well he's very talented aswell but that's definietly a strength of his.

I've never met Booth, but I have to say I think he's massively under-rated in UK boxing terms. I like the fact he always seems calm, methodical and sharp. He's also his own man, based on what I've seen, which operating in a shark tank like boxing politics strikes me as an admirable quality.
