could easily be like that. lyle too.

i always try not to be too nostalgic,
since each generation kind of sees the
glory in the past and only the BS in the
present. but whenever i come across a
piece of footage of the early seventies,
i can't help thinking: "when was the last
time heavies fought like that?" and the
answer is always evander-related.
Yes  and just occasionally boxing time machine whose two most prominent
Heavyweight passengers gave been foreman mk 2 and the late 40s holyfield provide a tantalising glimpse at what would have been.it's pretty clear the young foreman would have decimated guys like tyson,Lewis and the klitchkos.and seeing 46 year old Whitfield beat valuev than get robbed pretty much tells u even the shot holy of 96-97 would have run riot during the present era.

Well, as a fiction writer, he can take license. It's the heart of the story that matters here. He sincerely wanted this to be a fact, and that goes a long way toward full "certification".

From > Monday, December 3rd thru Friday, December 8th.

Kenny flew home over the weekend, and had a scheduled bout on Wednesday Night - December 13th
at The Coliseum in San Diego.

Kenny fought Charlie Reno in front of a sparse crowd of only 700 in the 3561 seat Coliseum. Kenny received
only $300 for his Fight Purse, in winning a somewhat difficult 10-Round Decision over the 'Seattle Fat Man'.

Kenny flew back to New Jersey, and was working out with Joe on Friday, December 15th.

That's when we saw him spar with Joe Frazier.

Joe Frazier had his final workout at The Playboy Club that Friday, and then moved his Camp to Pleasantville, New Jersey.
Prove it.

Don't care about the "Yardbirds" gig in New York.

Funny, but I don't see any reference to Ken Norton being there or backing up Joe Frazier in any of those articles . . .

If Ken was back in San Diego on the 13th, and sparred with Frazier on the 4th through the 9th, how did you see him spar with Joe on the 15th?

Ray....reading a little bit of Steven Hawkings "Brief History of Time" would explain exactly how such a thing could occur.

You did not permit me to finish.........

Kenny took a flight back to San Diego on Saturday late-Afternoon, December 9th. He had used the time {6-Days} at
The Playboy Hotel with Joe Frazier to prepare for his upcoming bout with Charlie Reno back in San Diego

Kenny was back in San Diego on Saturday Night, December 9th.

Then, Kenny fought Charlie Reno on Wednesday Night, December 13th at The Coliseum.

Kenny had agreed to take a 'Percentage' of the Live Gate instead of a $3000 Fight Purse Guarantee. Unfortunately less
than 700 people attended, and Kenny ended up with a 'paltry' Fight Purse of only $300 for defeating Charlie Reno over
10-Rounds.

Kenny then called the Frazier Camp and said he would come back to New Jersey, which he did. He took a flight out of
San Diego on Thursday, December 14th.

Kenny was sparring with Joe Frazier on Friday - December 15th, the last day of Training Camp at The Playboy Club Hotel.
That is where we saw him...... :TU:

Kenny also went down to Pleasantville, New Jersey with the Joe Frazier Camp for 7 more days, and stayed in New Jersey
until Thursday, December 21st, before heading back home for the Holidays.

There, you have it........
So you say . . .

Il Duce wrote:Yes Ray,

According to Kenny Norton, it was he who said he was moving Joe Frazier backwards in late-1972.

Kenny Norton >
'Joe had pretty much done anything he wanted with me in the Ring since 1969, when I first started
working with him.'

'But by 1972 - I was holding my own in there with Joe, and for the first time he couldn't back me up.
And at the December 1972 Training Camp in New Jersey {The Playboy Hotel}, I was starting to back him
up and outwork him. I knew I was better at that time, as had Joe had slipped a little.'
First you claim you saw it personally . . . now the best you can do is claim to quote Norton . . . sad . . .

Against Muhammad Ali, the referees called all fights right. Norton was not a better boxer/fighter than Muhammad Ali. Ken Norton would not have beaten Joe Frazier. I watched Ken Norton's fight with Jimmy Young and was very surprised that he was awarded the win. I really feel that Jimmy Young won that fight. :box:
