They had to start getting rid of some - first McCloskey, now Stalker.... simply have too many fighters - they would need to do off TV bills to keep them active and then how can you keep the name alive.

Not 100% surprised by this really, can't see Stalker making it that big.

On a side matter, who is Neil Perkins now fighting for? Wasn't he originally with Maloney?

People think am mad for signing a 3 year deal with allegedly today knowing i could of signed another year deal with matchroom boxing but trust me it's the best move career wise and financially, with franks guidance and a good team behind me, big few years ahead.

Eddie said just yesterday "“We have big plans for Olympic captain Tom Stalker" and reportedly offered a new contract to Stalker yesterday as soon as he learned allegedly was signing him. Matchroom didn't get rid of Stalker, Stalker saw a better future with another promoter and moved.

A kick in the teeth for Eddie. He should have tied Stalkers contract down when he had a chance.

Although seemed like, reading between the lines - Eddie only made him an offer as a counter to Warren's offer.... not a immediate contract extension. He might be a good ticket seller, but you can see Eddie's priority is Joshua and Campbell from the Olympic team. Even Ogogo (who I don't think is with Eddie) appeared on more Sky bills (on the times for peak TV viewing) than Stalker of late.

True however Stalker suffered an arm injury in July, after 4 fights in 4 months for Matchroom, and has been out since recovering. He was scheduled to be out in Cardiff for Matchroom next month, and appeared to be in the forefront of Eddies mind just yesterday when he said "We have big plans for Olympic captain Tom Stalker". Maybe Eddie, like most other promoters, was just talking sh1t.

No, but I think they have been better attended than it looks on telly. Walsh-Murray for instance, was on about six hours before the main event is both sets of fans will have left the arena.

Clearly was, as he clearly cannot have big plans. I think Matchroom said that to try and convince Stalker that he was part of the plans - but as said, it appears the contract offer only came as a RESPONSE to Warren's offer and if Stalker was out of contract then and was a big part of Eddie's plans then the contract would have come as soon as the other one expired.

Personally, not sure its a major loss to Matchroom but hope I am wrong. You cannot keep signing fighters and keep everyone happy - not that long ago the Evangalo boys (however you spell it) were the ones Eddie was shouting about - now though, with the likes of Campbell, Joshua, McDonnell etc on board he has higher profile fighters to keep happy. I wonder how long before the likes of Rees and Purdy will be on board - not exactly as glamorous or as talented as the likes of Froch and Brook.

Matchroom never got rid of Thomas he left to join another promoter. Matchroom were trying to convince tom to stay. But the decision was made.
And time will tell whether or not he makes it as a pro. I am absolutely convinced that he will. He's developing more and more every single day
Also he is one of britain,s most highly decorated amateurs ever having medaled in various tournaments all over the world and achieving world number 1 status. A title they don't give out very easily

I also think he couldn't afford to sign several, or maybe more to the point would figure it is not a good investment, considering how things have gone with Saunders, DeGale and Gavin. The success of the UK amateurs undermined their potential worth turning over to the pro ranks, there were just too many medal winners. On a side note the best British boxer I saw at the Olympics in terms of becoming a future pro star was Andrew Selby.

"Money that was too good to be true" - it probably is then. You must be insane to move to Warren with money as a basis, you can't honestly tell me that is was for any other reason I'm sure.
