Because Fury is on BN and will be a big draw for the channel.

So pleased I haven't bought tickets for this show. 2 walk over opponents now needed.

Ideally of course, Chisora would fight Helenius as a rematch and good prep for Tyson in terms of dimensions.

Perhaps Fury could fight Sprott, an interesting fight versus a known opponent of similar dimension to Chisora.

I can see Sprott's phone ringing in the very near future. If the team was serious about Hughie being world champ in 13 months he needs to be facing the likes of Sprott now, but I don't see it happening as Hughie hasn't looked ready for a step up. I can see Sprott being put in with Chisora or Tyson Fury though.

I do sympathise with the promoter to a certain extent over Chisora - he is highly ranked, and why should they take chances and pay out a small fortune to secure a "name" opponent, when by the end of the year Delboy may well find himself in a mandatory position just by avoiding defeat between then and now.

I may be old-fashioned but I do wish the promoter would make the match - be it Chisora vs Sprott, Chisora vs Wilder, whatever - and then announce it and flog tickets accordingly. Instead, it's done back to front. No opponent named at the outset, although lip service is paid to it being an opponent of substance, and we're told the European title will be on the line. Then, a total unknown is announced, who then inevitably withdraws. Several weeks of doubt follow, before a bottom drawer fall-guy turns up in the other corner.

But as a boxing fan I want to see Chisora face somebody meaningful at long last. It would be absolutely fantastic to see him vs Thompson, to see if he can succeed where Price failed.

Every heavyweight with the slightest opportunity of possibly ending up in a world title fight will be treading carefully through the division these days (if Leapai can challenge for the titles, anything is possible), but surely there has to be some decent Europeans who would want to challenge for the European title ?? Why are unknowns always being dug up ??

Reading that article, it seems to be a final eliminator by default, in that the winner of Stiverne/Arreola MUST fight the winner of Wilder/Scott immediately (well, in the 1st defence!), due to the rules about their vacant WBC belts being fought for. Their rules state an immediate mandatory defence is required for the winner of a clash for a vacant WBC belt.

The irony is, the loss to Chisora has somehow propelled Scott into title contention, something he couldn't otherwise manage in 13 years as a pro !

There's some powerful folk wanting Wilder to become WBC champ this summer...

That's what it really is. People in high positions want Wilder in the mix.

If Scott wins I wouldn't be surprised to see them backtrack a little

I actually think Chisora's style is going to make Johnson busier than normal in the fight. Johnson may yet win this, but I'm sure the ref/judges will help Chisora out if need be.

Getting past either Arreola or Stiverne is certainly easier said than done (at least in the opinion of several on this board that consider Wilder a cupcake)

Warm up is probably the wrong term. It was a way of Haye getting back in the groove and attempting to land a shot at a Klit straight after ( as is always the way )

It was still a comeback fight. Easy money or not, that's how top level fighters should approach the game. If Haye come back in six months time, does anyone genuinely believe he would come straight back in with an opponent similar to what Fury is taking on in a few weeks?

Its a terrible opponent for Fury. He is way past this level. I appreciate he needs to dust off the cobwebs, but that's exactly what Chisora, the gatekeeper, is for. He would give him a good workout, more than likely take him the distance, but isn't good enough to beat Fury. Perfect way to get rounds under his belt.

I think Fury would have gladly taken on anyone on this date. It's Fwank filling out the dates and tv schedule and using this card to promote the rematch.

I think Fury would too, although he did say he needed a 'tune up' on his return.

I was hoping this was going to be the year Fury pushes on. The way things are panning out, he will still be in a similar position to what he is now come August.

It was supposed to be a warm up for Vitali, but the fight never happened.

Fury's opponent is a complete pushover. The guys already been knocked out half a dozen times. Haye wouldn't fight someone this poor, not in a million years.

Sadly a good match maker will be in the know that Johnson will be out of shape for this and will only come to survive. Agreed Fury fight is rubbish and will be over in the first few rounds. A really poor card.

Is the Copperbox card on PPV? I'm not finding any listings for these fights Stateside...

Despite my feelings of Chisora and Fury not facing each other for another 6 months I would be intrested in watching them "live" so to speak as the HW division seems to be picking up the pace of decent fights. I'm intrested in where these two are "currently" in their careers. Arreola has looked pretty good in last 4 fights, and the rematch with Stiverne is definitely on my To Do list. Then the mandatory fight with Wilder to follow up. I think that Fury may get the call if he gets past Chisora, and Wilder can get past Arreola/Stiverne... but... as me old dad used to say "if" a frog had wings...
