Channel 5 are still in the game and will be showing a few shows in March. (degale plus galahad) I have no idea why Tyson isn't on channel 5, might be do to with his purse and what ch 5 are willing to pay.

It's a poor opponent but Fury has been out the ring for around about a year and it's only a few weeks notice. Not sure if the plan is to have the Chisora v Fury fight after this one, or have them both fight another fight before facing off in say August.

Pointing out his number of losses or age doesn't automatically make him bad, that's a straw man argument really.
Anyway, sorry I'm being facetious, to the fight itself I see no reason not to take it.
Tyson won't be fighting any name opponents on such short notice, and may have just spent his night on twitter dissing said opponents if not for this fight.
Take it as it is, an easy night against a scary looking dude with a good record on paper. He may shake off some ring rust, we get to see him out on telly again (always entertaining) and he gets another win on his record on his way to something bigger in the year.

Chisora is a pretty meh opponent for a "fighting fit" Fury. I certainly hope he doesn't want two complete knock over jobs before going over old ground with Del Boy.

Remember when Haye was having one of his comebacks after a long time out? He fought Chisora on his return. He would never in a million years have got away with such a poor opponent on his return, ring rust or not. The next comeback for him would have been Charr or Fury himself.
Even then, Charr being a possible opponent was getting slated by a few!

Fury, who sees himself as being ready to step in for a world title shot right now, doesn't need to fight someone so poor. Now matter how rusty he might be.
Why not someone like Sprott? Browne? Even effing Audley!!!

It's probably down purely to money. Browne and Audley would have (I would certainly think) demanded quite a lot more than what this bloke is getting. Also none of those guys would have taken the fight on 3 weeks notice.

True. Its been known that Fury has been on this bill for a few weeks now though. Could have been sorted much earlier.

As I said before, I think he will sit on his ranking and wait for a title shot.

Price's opponent is the third choice. Fury's is the first.

Fury vs Gonzo

Haye/Chisora says it all. Haye came off a year's layoff and went right in with the fellow who had given Vitali his toughest rumble in many years. That is a man with serious intentions.

Fury after a year's lay off takes on a man of this calibre. That's a man with cynical intentions, an Audley Harrison-style swindle.

Warren dosent even get credible opponents for his own fighters so you really think he was good to foot the bill for a decnt opponent for someone elses fighter??

Though I am not a fan of the match up, and I am sure in many ways this is an embarassing selection for Team Fury to of had to make, but there is one interesting thing about this match (least in my eyes) and that is the height factor---- this Gonzalo Basile is 6'6" and weighs over 240 pounds, this has to certainly be the tallest man Fury has been in the ring against as a pro. Be interesting to see how well Tyson will deal with someone who he can virtually see eye to eye with.

I hope, when Delboy's opponent is announced, that we're not re-evaluating this opponent and thinking he's better than Chisora's foe.

No disrespect to Scott but he was pretty dire too.

Tyson also easily stopped the Brazilian who flattened Basile in one---I think he was 6'5" 240.

Fury has fought a few big guys over the years ... you just forget them because Fury is bigger!

Scott Belshaw is 6'7, Firtha was 6'6 and Nasciemento [who KO'd Basile in 1 rd] was 6'5.

Fury has a comical reach for his massive height [I think it is longer than Valuev's!] so he is always going to have size advantage over everyone.

It would be nice to see Tyson in with a decent heavyweight who had a bit of size about him. Someone who can bang too.

The reluctance to fight a banger so far might suggest they aren't too confident in his chin holding up.
