Can they give both fighters what they want? If there's a single option in the deal Groves won't sign, Froch is unlikely to agree to a split less than 75-25, but Groves wants good money for the fight, so Froch would need to be paid more, but is the budget there for that? Hearn wants to make big money from the fight and won't want to stand any chance of losing a penny, Sky will only put up so much money and would want Groves to fight on there in future, then there's all the other costs of the show to cover on top, plus Sky are not some all powerful force that blow away everything in their path, other broadcasters will be interested, BT have outbid them for football rights, Sky's main sports market, allegedly and allegedly will undoubtedly want to show the fight, Golden Boy and Sauerland will be interested as well.
Get real it end up on sky ppv. How many people bought first fight do you think?

Sky haven't put out figures for the first fight, I haven't got a clue how many it did. Sky were outbid by far by BT for the Champions League rights, if BT want to break into boxing this fight is the perfect option and Sky can work with promoters that aren't Eddie Hearn if they want to, for this fight I doubt they would have a problem working with another promoter.

In what universe does Carl Froch agree to fight on a W£rren card? If it somehow ends up going to bids (it won't) and Fwank somehow outbids everyone for the fight, Carl will just pull out. The fight will happen, it will be on Sky Box Office, everyone will make more than enough money and Fwank will dismiss the fight as meaningless as Andre Ward is the true champion at 168.
Anyone who thinks something other than this, can you please let me know what you're drinking; I've not been on a good trip in a while.

There's a difference between wanting something and actually getting it.

Carl Froch won't fight on a allegedly card, but all that means is that if Warren bids big, without losing a penny, he removes Froch's IBF title, gets some major publicity and then has the chance to promote Groves fighting for the vacant belt, or in the unlikely situation that Froch does fight, he makes big money from the show, he can't lose.

It will either happen on sky ppv or the fight wont happen end of. You still did not give a guess at number for the first fight the second one will smash that.

For the second I would guess around 500,000 buys, 350,000 for the first. 500,000 would be £7,500,000 in TV revenue, some of which would go to Sky.

Some funny stuff being said.
Expe - think I've asked you this before and you haven't answered. If BN bid are you seriously thinking they won't want options on Groves ?

Fair enough - but you haven't answered the question.
I've been in and around boxing long enough to know that UK Promotors do not invest in one fight wonders.
Wazza will not put millions up to make a one night profit.
He'll want George's soul win lose or draw.
For that reason in Dragons Den terminology - he's out - if George is good to his word that this isn't about the money it's about the options.
Why am I saying this ?
It ain't fuckin going to purse bids anyway !!
But going back to the original point when Wazza brought Tyson over did he want options ? Damn sure he did.

Serious + straight question Parson, did he get options on Iron Mike ?
I don't know the answer, hence asking. We'd all like options on Mike Tyson (circa his visit to the UK) but there's wanting and there's getting.... I wouldn't have thought Mr Tyson would be forthcoming ?

Why wouldn't he put the money up to make a profit? Yes, he would like to have Groves long term, but right now I'm sure he would be delighted to secure a fight of that magnitude for allegedly and the chance to make that kind of money isn't one he can turn down in his current position.

Wasn't Haye vs Chisora a one night, one-off money making thing with Fwank ? As I recall he didn't get options on Haye. He did have Delboy under contract of course.

Precisely ! He gambled on a Chisora win and it didn't happen !
Froch and a Groves major investment and they both walk away ? DTS.

Wazza had options on Tyson fighting in the UK. He gave him them back and washed his hands of him after the credit card / expenses dispute.

Cheers. I imagine the UK rights didn't really mean jack sxxt in the big scheme of things... but gave Fwank some protection against Tyson coming back and making a rival rich.

The return on the investment would be the profit from the show and the exposure it would bring to his fighters, signing Groves afterwards would be a bonus. A fight like this isn't going to lose money, so it's a safe investment.

The Russians who bankrolled Povetkin Vs. Klitschko are interested in Groves / Froch II according to many unreliable Tweeters today. Paddy Fitzpatrick is being fingered as the source of this info.

Don't really see why they're interested, neither would fight in Russia, it isn't really a big fight outside this country and they would need to find a broadcaster willing to work with them, plus they have no previous involvement of boxing in this country, or any fighters to put on the undercard.

A little bit rude, there are more fans on the site than insiders, though many insiders seem to do more to obfuscate than elucidate.

People saying this won't go to purse bids??? How do you know this?? George Groves isn't exactly the most conventional kind of guy!! If he see's this as leverage then he's going to use it!!! If He keeps refusing Hearns offers then purse bids it is!! I'm sure the IBF will have created a deadline for the rematch to be agreed before it goes to purse bids!!
My feeling is Hearn will make an acceptable bid before that happens although I have a sneaky suspicion that Groves is at the mind games again!!

Purse bids can backfire for groves though.
