Agreed. He never fought a guy like Gerry Cooney. That's how you have to judge these things. His chin is ranked by many as being one of the best, but it never felt the chivalry of the Gentleman.
Tua KO 7 Gerry Cooney

Cooney KO 7 David Tua.

Oh for fucks sake, just respond for a change huh? I know you love Cooney and for good reason. He was awesome. And there's no getting around it... I've let you "sleep" on the issue long enough...

Its what he does. He comes into a thread. Makes whimsical remarks.. Then when someone replies, he leaves his trademark..

And I forgot to ad that he periodically checks back from time to time to see if he can ad another one.

If Byrd had some punching power, he may have been able to stop Wladimir Klitschko.
Not trying to be a pain in the ass here, but I just don't see why its relevant that Moorer had more punching power than Byrd. By that Logic George Foreman should have beaten Jimmy Young. Byrd was a long range boxer, who out pointed his foes, and he actually proved that he could do this against a dangerous hitter in David Tua. Not sure that Moorer ever beat a good technician at heavyweight. Now at light heavyweight he came from behind to stop a pretty good boxer in Lesley Stewart but that was in a different weight class against a lesser man than Byrd. For the record, I don't think either of these guys were much better than the other, and for all I know, Moorer might very well have gotten him out of there. But Chris was not easy to stop, and could outpoint a man pretty soundly. Moorer had his fair share of lackluster showings at heavyweight too.. Guess its a tossup.
Don't think you understood what I was saying. When I first brought up Byrd's lack of power, I was just mentioning some basics strengths and weaknesses that Moorer and Byrd had.

Byrd certainly didn't depend on his power. However, if he had greater power, he would have been a better fighter. His defensive ability (good but he was hittable) only took him so far. He got beaten badly by W. Klitschko and Ibeabuche.
Likewise if Moorer had better chin, he would have been a better fighter. (He would not have lost to Foreman for example.)

Not saying that the guy with the better power is always going to win. You have to look at how good the two fighters are at the other aspects of boxing as well.

I guess you could say that Moorer never beat a good technician at heavy; at least if you mean a good defensive technician. Moorer did have the win over Holyfield that was much more meaningful than the one that Bryd had over Holyfield.

I wasn't really think of a head to head matchup between Moorer and Byrd (though I would make Moorer a slight favorite) I was just rating them and donald. They each had their ups and downs that you have to weigh; I just think Moorer's overall career was a little better.
