Sounds like becoming a professional boxer *bar being a top amateur* sounds like it's more hassle than it's worth.

Unless your mexican! they are very different sports I think. You learn solid fundamentals and get good experience lay groundwork, but for someone like me who punches the body and like fighting on the inside, the style isn't suited to the amateurs

Seem to have hit an early road block, need to get hold of my record card which the club kept. There has been a turnover in coaches and nobody seems to know where it is, I don't know how big a deal this is, or if I can go to the IABA and get a replacement, anybody know?

if you cant find yr card youl have to do a trial assessment its no biggy lots of people turn over without a card

go to your county board they will give u a replacement

Even with your card and that record you'll need to do a BBBofC assessment.
No big deal if you've got solid basics like you say.
Also if I were in your shoes I'd be prepared to be flexible. Visiting the gym in person (but contact them first, don't just turn up) and do a few rounds sparring. No gym is gonna take you on without being a name until they've see you. If youre looking to be a steady journeyman then they'll happily give you a few rounds with their lads.
Also be careful who's advice you take on this forum. Not all opinions are equal & some people spout off advice for kudos reasons only, not for helpful advice, when knowing feck all about the UK scene & business.
