Getting Dyer on though? I think that's silly.

Most British boxers at the moment are pretty boring personality wise. Good and hard working athletes yes - exciting and enthralling to here talk/tweet, no.

We need a few personalities who can sell the sport themselves.

You don't just need a wider audience to get money back into the sport, you need to be putting on consistent quality cards with real fights, not the duds that the majority of fighters have been facing recently. For every Froch Groves (and lets not forget Groves wanted that fight not Froch or Hearn initially) we about 10 Quigg v someone no-ones heard of.

Why is it weird? I still don't get why you don't like the idea of celebreties (whether thats, actors, musicians, stars from other sports.....whoever) to appear. why pidgeon hole it to, boxers or ex boxers, or someone else who is involved in boxing..

maybe i'm wrong but i like the idea of opening it up a bit to a wider audience

I think acting and football are both equally far removed from boxing, I don't really see the difference. Unless you mean a footballer that's boxed a bit (I think roy keane and rooney both boxed, not sure I'm not a football fan anymore). I agree getting in celebs that have previously boxed would be good. Will Mellor, Lee Evans, ray winstone, micky rourke etc. (you could do a whole thread on that.... Chris Issak and Terrence Trent D'arby both won the golden gloves!!! Don't ask me how the fukk I know that).

Its interesting that many feel Dyers interest in boxing isn't "real" enough for them. I mean he did a documentary with dominic negus, he's been on a few shows with GG, I don't see why he cant be considered a "fan". Granted it would've made more sense to have maybe had in that manc lad that had been out to the wild card who actually trains, but I haven't a problem with it.

I like the idea of celebrities going on ringside, I just dont like Danny Dyer. Im sure I read somewhere that Michael Owen boxed as an amateur which surprised me at the time but im not sure what kind of level he was at.

The whole celebrity thing is big in the states with the boxing, announcing who is in attendance at fights etc. Theres a bit of a difference between a Di Caprio and a Dyer tho. Lol.

I've not seen it but getting a few celeb's on the show to show support for the sport and have a chat about current fights they are interested in can only be a good thing (in general)

There's plenty of people that when they hear or see that Danny Dyer is on Ringside, they will change the channel, rather than actually watching.

For the record, I think it's a bit mental to see Danny Dyer on Ringside as a sign the sport is dying.

Danny Dyer having a cvnting career, now that's not just a sign but the actual leading edge of the apocalypse itself.

I think Michael Owen had 3 fights for Chester ABC as a schoolboy, think he won them too, and isn't Danny Dyer from Canning Town?

Dyer looked rough as arseholes. He had bags under his eyes that would make Ian Beale blush.

Kevin Mitchell came across as genuine and interesting, cant help but root for him when you hear him talk.

billy Mitchell would have been better - he at least drinks in a pub that houses a boxing club. but best would have been Janine - I wouldn't tangle with her.

then again danny did a terrific job with the olympic opening ceremony so he gets my

I disagree. I like watching Kevin get chinned. Maybe it's because I was gutted when he beat Johannesson(or Carl threw away) or maybe it's the way he was discussing unification with Marquez at the PRE fight presser with Katsidis.
