Froch took a lot of damage and I don't think he can take more shots pf that weight inn this fight.

Groves by KO or wide UD using feints, movement and the odd heavy shot.

He didn't against Ward and in Kessler I.

Never thought I'd stick up for Froch but he was very competitive in the last 5-6 rounds of the ward fight

As has been said, he was strong in the second half of the Ward fight. That was hin closing the show, just happened to be against one of the P4P best.

After the first fight I was very confident Froch would stop George in the rematch. Now, I've been having some doubts. Froch just seemed so sluggish in the last encounter and I worry that this will be his 'old overnight' fight.

However I've got Froch stoppage closing out another round of accumulators...put on back when I was sure.

It's tough because I don't see Carl getting dropped like he did in the first fight but I do see him taking a similar amount of punishment over the course of the fight, punishment which he may not be able to take as well this time.

I'm still going Froch stoppage but I'm not that confident.

One thing nobody has mentioned on this thread is how disrupted George Groves' training camp must have been for the first fight.

He changed trainers midway through camp and was facing court battles over his purse. However mentally strong a fighter is, surely that type of disruption will have a detrimental effect (even if to a small degree) on a fighter's performance.

I think that with an uninterrupted camp, knowledge that he can hurt Froch, the experience of having been in a huge fight and his superior technical skills Groves should prevail this time around.

Good point! Also Groves has only had 20 fights and is only 26. Surely he must have learnt a great deal from the first fight not just inside the ring but out of it. He'll be much better prepared mentally in terms of dealing with the build up and big fight atmosphere on the night. Another great point made was many fighters are physically very fit/have good stamina but expend a lot of nervous energy on fight night. You'll never see Mayweather look tired in a fight because 1. He trains like a demon but also 2. He is so relaxed in the ring.

I initially said Froch but I'm not sure about that all. I'll be watching the build up, news from training camps and the weigh in with great interest!

It's interesting that the press tour seems to have been cancelled. I guess given that it has sold out they may not think it necessary but usually for a fight of this magnitude you would go to a few cities to promote the fight to drum up further PPV sales. I wonder what the reason for the cancellation was?

Because Groves gets into Frochs head too much; Groves looked to be enjoying it all, Froch struggles - if the press tour has stopped I imagine it'll be Froch that is happier and I think that shows that Groves was onto something.

Really good point, and I distinctly remember how emotional he (Groves) was ringside straight after the fight, thanking Paddy for stepping in and helping him when he needed it most

if he has had a more settled camp this time round....who knows eh!

Whoever wins, I'm seriously looking forward to it all over again!

He didn't especially look like he was having fun on the pitch at Wembley.

Froch lost his rag and pushed him, it weren't Groves bringing people to shout at Froch. I imagine that Groves was happy enough that he managed to rile Froch so easily and quickly.

True but the way he ended up approaching Hearn he seemed pretty riled. A completely calm person in that situation would of laughed it off and ticked it off as another success in getting under Carl's skin. George's reaction gave off a different impression to me. He almost seemed to be giving off the vibe that he was getting frustrated that he wasnt riling Carl to quite the same extent and that overall he wouldnt engage him.

He looked more than intimidated at points. I'm not taking the piss, just counterbalancing your general anti Froch diatribe. It could well be that Groves doesn't fancy being in that position continuously.

I see Groves having more confidence this time, despite losing, in his head he feels it was unjust and he will hold onto that in the build up to the fight.

He will also gain massively from putting Froch over heavily, he landed almost at will for the first six rounds and I see no reason to change that gameplan, stamina wise there will be
question marks and if his team are truthful with themselves and Groves, they don't want Froch to hear the bell for the start of round 10, they will want and they need the job done by then.

Plenty of people saying box more and land etc etc, for me thats a disaster, Groves is a better fighter when he flows, he thinks about it and things go wrong, he needs to land heavily and often, something which I believe he can do and will do.

I have enormous respect for both fighters, Carl has achieved great things in the ring and will go down as one of our best in recent times without a doubt.

George will be a very good fighter and he too will most likely have a place in any British list of recent years by the time he hangs up his gloves.

I just think the first fight will have taken an awful lot out of Froch and I am not sure he can take the same sort of punishment again, I have to go with Groves here and by stoppage before the eighth.

Maybe, I didn't realise I was on a diatribe or mad rant. It may well be that Groves is scared of Froch and his brother or is upset at being mocked, if it is then it isn't really professional of him even if the tickets are already sold.

I think it was out of order. Not the push so much, but Pleather and Karl Beard mouthing off, whilst Eddie looked on, smirking. Groves looked seriously annoyed to me. Not riled, p!ssed off.

The fact that Groves seemed all alone out there didn't settle well with me. Eddie should have stopped it. You say pissed off, I say shaken.

That in itself shows a degree of weakness though.

Yes, he was alone, and Eddie was useless. So were security. I though he squared up like he was going to crack one of them if they got any closer.

He's a man columbo, not a robot. it shows more weakness having people there as cheerleaders.

I dunno mate, I think i'd be pissed off if my opponent brought a load of mouthy hangers on, constantly griping at me...

does being pissed off with something show weakness? not sure about that

Yeah but when Groves is constantly is whispering in Carl's ear, etc and Carl get's pissed off it is seen as a sign of weakness. It seems like there's a bit of a double standard though.

Isnt that the same for Carl though when George is constantly saying things to him?
