Like what Ashley Sexton done, and Hall is MUCH stronger then Sexton................

IMO Butler ain't beat anyone yet, the best person Butler has fought is Sexton and he didn't get it all his own way. Najah Ali was a great result but he didn't have any notice. John Donnelly was also a very good result, Miguel Gonzalez 17-0 But never fought any one with a decent record... Hall wins this for me..
Ah good to see that someone else knows how to check a boxers records and can see the truth
You're trying to pick a winner based on what you seen on the record. Watch the fights first, the record is just that, names on paper, the performances and styles are what you have to really look at. In all honesty, the only win Hall has that stands out above Butler's record anyway is Malinga, who isn't world class himself and Hall has the two defeats on his own record.

Typically I'm at a wedding down south on this date so will be giving it a miss - nightmare. Hope they can shift a few more tickets this time around anyway - a tiny bit of promotion around the city and the place would be packed. So many people didn't even seem to be aware there was a fight night happening for Hall/Ward.

Hall stops Butler for me; too big, too strong.

Not actually been in a ring then have you, those that havant stepped between the ropes do not have the right to belittle those that have.
Anyone who holds that opinion should really stay away from internet boxing forums!

Why, because I understand what makes a fighter tick and the hard work that goes into becoming one. You can have opinions but why must people have a go at fighters who get their shot.

It's a comment I'm sick to the back fornicating teeth of hearing on here.
It's rubbish. utter garbage.
I'm more than capable of forming an opinion on a fighter, whether i've boxed or not.
There are plenty of very knowledgeable people who have not boxed but know the sport very well,
just as there are many who have fought at the very highest level who slaver utter pish every time they have a microphone in front of them.
Stuart Hall is never a world class boxer, anyone with 2 functioning eyes will be able to see that.
If you want, i'll climb between the ropes and let someone punch me in the head for 36 minutes and you know what, i'll come out with exactly the same opinion!

but the main reason I object to hearing this argument is, if the supposed uneducated amateurs like myself, who have not boxed, are not allowed to hold a negative opinion on a fighter. Then what is the point of the forum. It would be 4 former pros debating stuff, with the rest of us fans just nodding in agreement and saying everyones great, because heaven forbid we criticise one of these god-like fighting men.

the reason people have a go at people who get their shot is because they are undeserving.
I'm not criticising Hall for taking the shot, i'm disgusted at the state of boxing when Britains No 2 & 5 bantamwieghts are competing for a world title, the winner of which goes on to fight Britains No4 bantamwieght.
Halls a good boxer. but he is not world level and should not have been given that shot, neither should Malinga, Ward or Butler.
What I will criticise Hall for is who he now choses to defend his belt against

If you think only the best fighters get the World Title fights your in the wrong sport.
Number 1 rarely ever fights number 2 or 3.
Ever since the dawn of ther sport fighters ranked welloutside the top ten are given that dream underdog title shot. Stallone's rather famous boxing movie is inspired by such stories. Dozens of world champions throughout history since the early 1900's won their title against the odds when not even ranked the best in their own country when given a fairytale title chance.
If it annoys you so much don't hate the player, hate the game.
Hall was given his chance & grasped it with both hands.

I guess anyone who hasn't judged a fight can't see when a decision is bullshit then?

Out of interest, did Bob Mee ever fight? Budd Schulberg? Thomas Hauser? Harry Mullan? No offense but I tend to take what Mee and Mullan say a lot more highly and authoritatively than what a lot of fighters and trainers say, who have their own, often obvious, agenda's.

it's all well and good being pleased for the plucky underdog. but then you ignore the top ranked guys who have worked hard and fought higher level opposition to earn their high ranking just to be over looked for the 5th ranked guy in their own country.
Christ it must have been hard enough for McDonnell to be stripped of the title. but to then see who has fought for it since must be gauling

I have never acted in a film that mean I can't give an opinion on any film I watch? Bullshit argument for people who don't like what they hear. I know plenty of people who have never been in a ring who know 10 times more than people who do box, just because you box it doesn't make you an expert.

Look at football, Robbie Savage was absolutely a better footballer than I ever will or have been. Does that mean he knows more about it than me? Does it sh1te

Think personally it has come to soon for butler and they see Hall as an easy touch. You shoudnt be able to have one fight at the weight when your just a prospect then fight for the world title. If he wins he ain't beating Caballero so what then?

Hall is No. 3, Haskins is No. 2.

What has Haskins got to do with anything?

I was talking about the Hall vs Ward fight.
At which time the boxrec rankings read:
1. McDonnell
2. Hall
3. Haskins
4. Butler
5. Ward

That's Britains no 2 vs 5
He is now fighting Butler. According to boxrec rankings that is britains no 1 vs 3. but i've no idea why Mcdonnell has been put in the Super bantamwieght rankings as his next fight is for the WBA bantamwieght belt.
so including him in the rankings, Halls next world title fight is between Britains no 2 and no 4

Fair enough. but i tend to just go on boxrecs rankings when i'm on here.

So basically the point you're making is, Hall should be No 3 behind McDonnell and Haskins?

Which probably gives you a great insight into the sport, almost certainly gives you a better education in it than me.
but don't tell me i'm not entitled to pass an opinion because i don't box, unless that opinion is unwavering support for any fighter who has ever laced up the gloves

the facts of the matter are Hall is some way short of world class, there are most likely 2 ahead of him in the queue to be britains number 1.
the fight between him and Malinga should not have been for a title. He should be made to fight better opposition than Ward and Butler in his defenses

Occasionally seeing an underdog get a shot is ok. but it happens too often in boxing. and in this case 2 underdogs competed for a title and the winner has now lined the underdogs up in an attempt to hold on to a title that he would lose if he fought anyone at world level
i'm fed up of seeing the Nathan Cleverlys and Scott Quiggs of the sport, not only get handed belts but refuse to earn them by defending them against anyone decent

Yes. So, I was really just trying to say that the situation was even more ridiculous than you were suggesting.

Some people have Hall above Haskins though, so it's up for debate.

Fair enough everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I would just like to remind everyone on here that at the time of the McDonnell and Haskins fights Hall was still working full time as a roofer and is in no way the same fighter now as he was then, he is faster and fitter, moves better and punches harder than he ever did in those fights.
