Were those days he spent doing the samba productive?G0mez wrote:So yesterday Froch kept his gob shut, and was diligently sparring a decent unbeaten prospect.
Meanwhile Groves is riding a double decker bus around London, telling everyone how great he is, that he is taking off Froch's head - and that thousands are coming to see Froch get beaten.
I'd say Carl had the more productive day.

This time around, he is stopping over in Sheffield and bunking with some of the GB squad.
Proper proper into it this time Dan.
Every morsel of food, every run, every swim - Full blown Adrian Mole diary meltdown. The lot !
Meanwhile George is busy promoting himSELF under the disguise of promoting the fight - he's a good figher, very good infact and had a great night in November - but this is new territory even by Froch's exacting training standards.

Diaries are for teenage girls.
Re: Carl froch starts sparring today with......
Can froch getting any fitter? I doubt it, the man is machine. Just because he's training like never before doesn't mean he's actually going to improve as a fighter. He'll still be eating right hands all night long. He's not improved technically pretty much since he turned over.
Still making the same mistakes. But, and it is a huge but, he is effective if crude, and a machine. I've got nothing but respect for Carl but I'm not so sure he can outbox Groves therefore its going to have to be another gutsy perfrormance and how many of those has he got left? Not many.

It's not like Carl hasnt been in with faster, more skilled opponents over the years though and still won. Taylor absolutely pummeled him in the early stages of their fight before Carl caught up with him and took him out. Dirrell was far quicker than Carl and so on. He's used to be in with people who are more athletically gifted. Carl has never been blessed with speed and and so on even in his early years.dbf wrote:Can froch getting any fitter? So you are no longer a Froch fan? More than that, your actively attacking him now?danconnollyeire wrote:Were those days he spent doing the samba productive?G0mez wrote:So yesterday Froch kept his gob shut, and was diligently sparring a decent unbeaten prospect.

I agree with all that - but he's been to well a lot. Heat not have a tough night left in him.columbo wrote:It's not like Carl hasnt been in with faster, more skilled opponents over the years though and still won. Oh don't get me wrong, I love Froch's fighting style, determination, never ever say die approach but it's 6 of one half a dozen blah blah blah. Bit hypocritical slagging Groves off for one thing, not really slagging Froch off for the dancing (he can do what he want's, don't really care) just saying it's a bit richDMA1987 wrote:So you are no longer a Froch fan? The Bute, Kessler, Taylor etc night were great but Froch is 36 now. I've always liked both but a Groves win is better for British boxing IMO because Groves is more likely to go on to a successful career whereas Froch will retire soon
On a personal level, the more Froch talks/contradicts himself, the more I dislike his character (something I didn't think I'd say about a year ago). Groves is also very annoying to listen to but slightly more tolerable than Froch. But as boxers, I love them both

Doesn't mean he won't get caught big though. I don't see a 'more cautious' approach working out for him and Froch isn't an illusive fighter. He was cautious first time out and look what happenedglasvegas wrote:can see the fight going much like the last with froch getting to him in the later rounds,he'l have alot more respect for groves power this time round
