The problem is not the frequency of his fights, the problem is that they aren't fighting anybody that'll teach him anything.

I don't mind him fighting Germany, to keep away from the attentive glare of the UK and building up his opponents slowly. But he isn't. He's just fighting divs, who he'll easily knock out. We knew he had power before. It's everything else he needs to work on.

What you are saying is that a 30 year old boxer who has been a full-time boxer all his adult life, won an Olympic bronze medal and has had 5 years as a pro should set his sights no higher than a 40 year old (who in his day was a decent domestic level boxer) but has now lost 6 of his last 10 fights then there is definitely a problem.

As I have said before, his team will give him half a dozen more similar fights and kid the general public how great he is.

In the meantime they hope that Tyson Fury will win a version of the "world" title, and the biggest fight out there will be Price / Fury. The promoters will turn a profit, both boxers will earn a fortune and Price will get smashed again.

Price a busted flush who'll crumble at top level like he already has. Shame.

I was scratching my head, trying to figure out who the modern day Bigfoot Martin, Ross Puritty, Marion Wilson types are. I have concluded that Demetrice King, Cisse Salif and Robert Hawkins are the closest proxy.

Rather than feeding Price this unappealing diet of brittle European puddings, how about bringing over the above-mentioned hardened heavybags? Price desperately needs distance fights under his belt, and he's not going to get them versus the gormless cannon fodder opponents he's currently fighting. Without being extended or tested the skills will stultify and the exact same Audley-style crisis of confidence will emerge every time he steps up to find a contender. There is a gulf between contenders and tomato cans. Beastly journeymen like King, Salif and Hawkins bridge that gulf.

That's who Price should be rebuilding against, says I, meditatively stroking my beard in my armchair.

I couldn't endorse David Price fighting a 50 year old man. I care about boxers and I'd rather not see Oliver McCall hit in the head anymore, especially by David Price.

King, Salif, Hawkins, Dominick Guinn will at least give Price something to think about.

He is entertaining though, and ultimately with that KO or be KO'd style, he shall always bring in viewers.

I think he's the biggest hitter in the division. With the whiskers of a flyweight. A proper seesaw combination.

But he is a proper gent and it seems everyone recognizes his flaws, but root for him regardless.

Who remembers Derek McCafferty? He fought loads of British prospects, back in the day. And always seemed to take them the distance. (Albeit usually in six-rounders.)

He was an early opponent for Audley.

Kevin Johnson is the durable modern plodding heavy bag type opponent.

He stopped Leapai (never dropped him) two years ago and hasn't looked too dangerous since. Price is chinny, but I'd still take him over guys like Johnson.

Yeah but he's got the skills to pull off a good shot every now and again.

Should Price be fighting a corpse then? For the most part Johnson does nothing against decent opponents, and when he stops guys it tends to be after wearing them down over several rounds, not blowing them away quickly because he's a hard puncher.

I bet he'd throw next to nothing against Price.

A corpse would be good haha. Somebody who literally throws hardly any punches but yet can absorb a lot. Someone like Mccall would be good but I can understand that could be brutal to be honest.

Johnson was unlucky to lose against Hammer and I've read that Johnson vs Charr was close, although I haven't seen it yet.

Johnson would have a decent chance of beating Price. Price has not beaten someone as good as Johnson yet.

Why not Ruslan Chagaev or Frank Pianeta? Chagaev is a name and can still box well enough to give Price rounds. Pianeta is not a big puncher.
