This, If Groves & DeGale win on May 31st; Groves / DeGale 2 is a huge fight. Groves earns more anyway in the rematch with DeGale than a fight with Abraham.

Also I can't see the IBF being too nice on Groves either if he wins the title because he was the mandatory challenger twice in six months to Froch.

Kessler does massive PPV numbers in Denmark with the cable companies charging £55! If Groves beats Froch, and is prepared to travel to Denmark, the fight could draw a massive PPV crowd in Scandinavia. There's potential there for Groves to earn more money rather than facing DeGale on SKY Box Office. Groves is very shrewd, "everything for a reason" and all that bollocks

So he would take a defence in Kesslers backyard rather than a huge fight in his own country for an equally tidy sum? Makes no kind of sense to me.

I dont know if the public will be over enamoured to see him vs either Abraham or Kessler. If Froch can outbox Abraham, then Groves would walk it. And the Kessler fight would be a watered down version of Froch v Groves.
I dont know if having matchroom as his promoter would make much difference in him getting the ward fight.
But it would the Degale fight, which could earn him more than either of the 2 Sauerland lads.
Eddie and the sauerland boys seem close anyway though so i imagine there would be little trouble in fights being made you know.

If Groves signs with sauerland this is very embarrassing for Hearn IMO...if its all confirmed soon it would put a very interesting sub-plot to next weekend....can Georgie win and escape with the title to Sauerland? what about Degale if he becomes Mandatory..im going to George's open work out at Westfield next week so ill try and get a word in then.

I know they are staging a show in Liverpool with David Price on in October, but I assume that they are now wanting to sign more British fighters & stage regular shows over here.
I know they have a good relationship with BN so possibly the TV route they will go down if they do.

Decent news for George. I'm glad he didn't go down the Hearn route, eveyone running off to Hearn has made British boxing a rather predictable place in the main - bar a few of these really big fights, the stuff underneath has been safe, predictable and getting a little too much like the old Warren shows with too many one-sided fights.

This move will give Groves access to big Euro fights like Kessler/Abraham and it's not like Sauerland don't have good ties with the US promoters either. I hope a few of our other boxers start to try and look elsewhere before falling for Hearn's salesman schpeel.

Why? Eddie has not even pretended to be anything like neutral in the run up to this fight. The smug arse licking way he looked around Froch and his idiotic brother when they ambushed George in the pitch would have sealed it for me if I was him.

Exactly, great to see George tell Hearn Jr to shove it - Sauerland are a terrific out fit an big on the world stage - they will probably have some interesting plans for George, once he's taken care of Froch in 2 weeks :TU:

Great move for George, Saurerland have a solid working relationship with Hearn and Warren (Kessler vs Froch 2, Maccarinelli vs Abraham) and also have their own stable of fighters.

My one concern is the timing of this deal? If Froch beats George convincingly this time his stock goes down considerably. Has George signed a deal while he can as he is not confident for the 31st?

Great move by Groves, he knows Froch and Eddie are close and it ramps up the pressure on Froch to keep the title with Matchroom. Eddie has already talked about fights down the line with degale and even further with Smith. Groves will win and unify against Abraham in Germany.

Only German-based super-middleweight I can imagine that's willing to face Groves would be Kessler. Arthur and Felix may face eachother but doubt they'd want any part of Groves.

Almost a cert. On the 25th April I sent the Sauerlands a Tweet asking if Pricey would fight in Liverpool this year and who would fight on the undercard. They Tweeted back saying:

"Would be a mix of UK and international names."

Anthony Fowler made this point on Twitter. I don't really think its the case though, Groves isn't the kind of guy that thinks he's going to lose.
