So Haskins said, Calzaghe never quit and that was with a broken right hand. And as I said McDonnell and Hall both beat Napa, hall inside the distance and McDonnell on a split. All fighters have a off day.

Lots of fighters have gone through the pain barrier to win fights, if Haskins felt struggling through the last 5 rounds in a Commonwealth title fight with one arm wasn't worth risking aggravating the injury and causing long term problems, I'm not going to slag him off for it, he wasn't unbeaten, it wasn't a world title fight and he was still young enough to come back without it having a major effect on his career. The three Napa fights aren't really relevant anyway, as things are, styles make fights, so they can't really be used to compare Hall, McDonnell and Haskins, I could understand them being used as a comparison if they had never fought each other, but all three have fought each other and Haskins is the only man to beat both.

Re Haskins Hall and McDonnell as I said all fighters have of days and even injuries Hall has had two.

I think generally you have to say that Haskins has worked his way towards his shot. I dont think anything has come easy to him. I think a more deserving challenger than Butler and because of the past history between Hall and Haskins you would have thought Hall would have wanted to put things right.

Haskins has an awkward style, but clearly uses this to the best advantage-he must be a nightmare to box and is always well prepared. His style does sometimes cause a bad blend and untidy fights, but he does what he does effectively and if you can fight in a way that makes it tough for the other guy to settle into a rhythm then stick with it imo.

Eubank, Hamed, Graham,Nelson and to some extent Galahad had or have styles that made it difficult for their opponents to settle into a rhythm. Not a bad thing.

Haskins is a very good fighter who needs a certain style to shine against, he won against both Jamie and Hall and really, if it were any of us in Haskins shoes we'd be moaning etc trying to get a shot or even a sympathetic move up the rankings. I very much doubt Lee Haskins has anything against Hall, it's a sport and a business and most boxers have a fair bit of respect for their opponents/contemparies.

If it was Stuey who'd beaten Haskins and then Haskins had got a title shot and won then surely it'd be human nature for Stuey to speak up? I doubt that Lee Haskins thinks that Syuey has done anything wrong - he hasn't - he probably just wishes he had a bit of luck like that.

In answering the original question.

Good solid fringe European Level type of fighter. I know he won the European title but he didn't hold it for long. Not world class in the purest sense of the word but would be an intriguing fighter for all the names currently involved for the IBF title.

Rightly or wrongly, I just can't forgive him for the Broadhurst fight. Truly awful, wretched fight. Was put right off watching him after that.

Wrongly, in my opinion. That fight was about 4.5 years ago.

Haskins has adopted a much more entertaining style since then (including a fight of the year contender vs Jamoye) and he has already been punished enough for boring people in the past.

I thought he nicked it, Napa was highly skilled but gassed v Jamie and he was outworked - which for most of his career was the only way to get to Ian who was slippy as an eel.

I agree, i watched it live, Napa schooled him, was shocked at the time by the result, Napa took over completely through the middle to late rounds.
