Seems to have gone under the radar, but Kevin Mitchell was 1.4lb over weight. Fights going ahead, though.

Just not an eliminator any more. Not sure that makes a difference though. If Mitchell wins he probably still gets his title shot. Feel sorry for the Canadian though as a win without it being an eliminator may not mean too much with strong promotional backing.

Mitchell put on OVER 10 lbs overnight

There's no excuse for it, Kevin has had plenty of notice and I'd hope he pays a forfeit, it's about close to outright cheating.

According to the report on this site, Mitchell put on 12 pounds over night.

Apart from being dangerous for Mitchell, what about his opponent ? - with a re-feed Mitchel will probably be about 11 stone come the fight, for a lightweight !

It is not the first time an overseas fighter has been put in this situation.

It is a disgrace, and as such I hope that Mitchell gets beat (not hurt, but beat).

The rules allow you to come in 10lbs overweight. Which in in itsself just isnt right. I know the intention is to avoid fighters drying out too much etc, but does it help their health in the long run?

I had read somewhere that Gattis had this to a fine art and could come in very heavy the next day.

Gatti ruined Gamache when he boxed him, he was far heavier - he knocked him out really badly.
