What is the average a guy will get for a world title fight? I mean someone like Brian Rose or Jennings or Lockett when they got their opportunities. Not already big, established names.

He may as well have offered 200 million. Its an empty offer.
He didn't make the first offer tho. He was responding to crap from the other side. I bet if Butler comes past Caballero that offer will still stand.
Not a chance
200k for Butler and a similar figure for McDonnell? I cant see that in a million years.
How many Matchroom fighters do you think have been paid 200k by Hearn?
I'm not gonna bother listing which fighters I think have been paid 200k+ purses in the last few years because it is irrelevant. I trust the Matchroom accountants and Eddie Hearn know how to budget for this better than you, me or expe.
I don't think a 200k purse is unreasonable if the fight is on as chief support to a big PPV fight at one of the big arenas or a stadium. I remember the anti Matchroom mob making out that Crolla v Murray and Quigg's last WT fight was gonna be fought in front of 3,000 fans scattered out at the MEN. I think a few of you guys underestimate how well Sky and Matchroom pull the crowds in.

As much as it pains me to say it I reckon the £200k offer to butler is genuine. He would likely put that on the undercard for Bellew vs cleverly in a potential stadium fight.

Some people really need to get a reality check on purses.

I haven't actually given any figures on who I think earns what. McDonnell and Quigg certainly won't have ever earned 200k in their careers thus far, in fact I'd be gobsmacked if either have earned 75k for a single fight.

I remember someone claiming McDonnell got £150k for the Ceja fight, I highly doubt that but it wouldn't surprise me if he's come close to £75k, he has had a couple of world title fights. Quigg might have got a purse of around that number now he has a 'world title', but again I could be overestimating as well.

Hmmmm didn't the McDonnell v Ceja fight go to purse bids? If so there must be a way of finding out the winning bid as I know some dude over on the current scene knew precisely how much a few fights that have gone to bids were.

It cost Hobson that much. Neither fighter got anywhere near.

If I was Butler I would tell Hearn give me the $5million you offered Khan or jog on.

Yeah. I mean why earn 200k when you can earn half that.

I think 200k is a great offer for Butler. TEAM MATCHROOM.

Mthalane was supposed to get something like $12,500 to fight Ruenroeng in a mandatory, he told the IBF to stick their title and got several times that for fighting Jether Oliva...then against Mthalane I think has had the 2 lowest purse bid offers in recent years, poor guy

If I was to guess (and listen I'v never tried to make out like I know fighters purses unless I'v read something) I'd say Rose is getting between $20,000 and $40,000. He's the challenger but it is live on HBO and Sky. Do people think I'm way out with my guess? By way out I mean less than 10k or more than 60k.

Purdy got $150k for fighting Alexander, so I'd expect Rose to be getting a similar amount, he'll definitely be on good money for this one.

fornicate me did he really get that much? Maybe I am way out. I remember hearing on that documentary that McClellan got £40k for fighting Benn, and that's in a more glamorous division and obviously he brought more to the table than the likes of Purdy or Rose. Also remember hearing Lamont Pietersen got only about $30k for one of his IBF defences up in Washington.

Purdy lost 10% of it because he didn't make weight, but all the purses in the US have to be declared to the state athletic commission, who usually make them public, along with the number of tickets sold, I just had a look to try and find Rose and Andrade's purses, but I couldn't find anything, they might be released in the next couple of days.

Yeah or a little while after the fight. Where do they make these things public, is there a website?

Gerald's purse was an awful lot more than that. What he walked away with is a different matter.

Even if it was 40k that was a good bit of money back then ! The equivalent of 100k now

Not enough, mate. It was more before other people got their hands on it.

Boxing scene usually posts up the Nevada ones, not sure about New York. I tried the commission website, but it doesn't look like it's been updated in months, if I find anything I'll post it on here.

Say a fighter makes 150k like Purdy supposedly did. How much of that would they actually likely see after taxes, etc?
